Asano was freed.

"You can go, if you want. There's nothing much to see after what just happened." Karma gave him a small smile, before it quickly disappeared.

"Finally." Asano opened the door, and immediately closed it shut.

Asano was freed? He wished.

"Your mother."

"What about her?"

"She's standing right in front of your door with a knife."

"Ooh, nice reflexes." Karma said, and aggressively pulled him back, his hand firmly holding his wrist. "You're lucky you didn't die."

"Give him to me!" The screeches of the insane woman were muffled by the door. Her fists banged on the wood as she screamed blood. "Give me his blood!"

"Tch..." Karma clenched his fists. "You know what? I have no idea why I even brought you here."

"I agree." Asano said, staring disgustedly at the door. "For once."

"She's okay most of the time. I guess I thought she'd be fine if there was a guest in the house, but..."

Karma stayed silent for a quarter of a second, before turning to Asano. "I'm going to unlock the door."

"What--?"

"She has a knife, you're not gonna survive that. As soon as I unlock it she's gonna barge in here and attack the first thing she sees. I'm gonna throw you behind her with all my strength, and from there, you have to run. Just don't look back and run."

"And you?"

Karma smiled. "Growing attached enough to worry about me, are we?"

"Shut up, Akabane."

"That's what I thought."

"And what if she kills you?"

"Then I guess I die, then," The redhead shrugged. "I don't have any important things to do anyway."

Karma knew that wasn't true. He had a job as a Class 3-E student--to kill his teacher. But he knew he wouldn't die today— that day was saved for a much later date— he still had at least 80 more years.

"You're an idiot."

"That's my charm." Karma said, and gripped Asano tightly.

Asano couldn't help but feel his heart thump with every step Karma took. His hand reached for the doorknob, and he unlocked the door with a small click!

Silence.

"KARMA!"

"Go!" Karma swung the other boy out the door and let him go, immediately dodging a stab. He hit the woman's wrist away as she came in for another hit.

Asano's instincts kicked in and he started to run, down the stairs, out onto the hall, and out the door, his shoes fumbling on his feet. He ran around a near corner and caught his breath.

He looked carefully, checking to see if Karma had run after him.

What is that idiot doing?! He has a reputation for beating kids up, but against a knife? A real knife?

Asano knew he didn't have a chance. He rubbed his wrist, wincing at the light throbbing. Karma had squeezed a little too hard.

30-40 minutes passed with no sign of the other boy. Asano had no choice but to wait.

Why was he waiting? He wasn't sure. He didn't want to think about it.

Crash!

Asano flinched and looked up to see glass falling. He immediately covered his head with his arms, and waited for pain.

Pain that didn't come.

When he looked again, his eyes processed a certain redhead with bloodied scars on his face and arms.

"You...ok...?" He asked, panting.

Asano scanned his injuries. "Are you in the situation to be asking me that right now?"

Broken pieces of the glass covered the stone pavement.

"Damn, that was a high window..." Karma cursed. But he was just fine. He had fallen from higher places, after all.

"You...I thought you said that you could deal with a knife."

"Yeah, well, I'm not a pro yet so I still lack some things." Karma said, wiping blood away. "I'm fine."

"Where is she?"

"Home. She doesn't leave the house."

Fighting with her like this wasn't really common for Karma(since he never brought anyone home and knew how to usually deal with her switch without fighting), so it took its toll on the redhead; both physically and mentally. No matter how insane she was, she didn't fight to this extent.

Karma leaned against the wall, and almost fell to the ground.

"Wait--!" Asano grabbed the boy from his underarms. "There's glass on the floor, you're going to sit on it?"

"Ow-That hurts, Asano-kun." Karma said, managing to steady himself. He patted Asano, who pulled his arms away awkwardly.

Sweat poured down his neck. His head throbbed a bit, and his arms stung. "Jeez, she was rougher than usual. That's your fault."

"You're at fault for forgetting she existed and bringing me along with your stupid game, you fool." Asano snapped back. "And fine, since it's all my fault I guess you can scratch your lower half as well."

"Yeah, no thanks." Karma put his hand against his forehead. "Fantastic. I have a headache."

"You deserve it."

"Thanks, Asano-kun."

"I suggest you treat those wounds."

"I'm fine."

Asano's heart throbbed, but was not going to tell the other. He would only be helping the redhead find more things to tease him about, and he didn't have time for that.

"Suit yourself."

"Uh huh..." Karma placed his hand on the wall, and staggered.

Something's not right...

Asano knew it. He knew Karma had much more stamina than this. A few cuts from glass shouldn't be making him like this...

As Karma turned his back to Asano, the strawberry-head's eyes grew.

"Karma--!"

The redhead fell to the floor, away from the glass, as the knife wound on his back slowly pumped out his blood.
