"Karma!"

"Asano-kun!"

Their fingers intertwined as Karma pulled him close. "We need to get out of here!"

"Where's my father?"

"I don't care about him right now!" Asano heard the urgency in his voice as they jumped to dodge another explosion.

"Let's just go!"

They ran towards a large window. Asano knew he wouldn't make it if he jumped, and that very thought stopped him.

"Don't worry about it, Asano-kun! I'll catch you! We just...We just need to get out of here!" Karma didn't want to go through it again. Especially not with Asano-kun.

"But..."

Karma hugged Asano. "I don't want to lose you, too. You have to trust me, Asano-kun! Don't die on me too!"

Asano felt his heart pound against his chest. He was aware of the height of the building. If they jumped, not even Karma would make it.

"But--" Another explosion shook the building, and it rocked, leaning to one side. They grasped onto each other, closing their eyes. "Just how many bombs did he set off in this place?!"

Karma started to remember that moment, and started to breathe heavily. His hands clenched as his arms trembled.

"Karma, calm down!" Asano yelled over the sounds of shattering glass. He searched for his father, but they were too late. The room had been separated into two spaces, the other side being blocked by a pile of crushed walls. At the back of his mind, he hoped his father managed to make it to safety as he turned back to the open space. "Ok, we'll jump! It seems the leaning of the building has somewhat considerably lowered our positions. I trust you, so jump!"

Karma looked Asano in the eyes, pursing his lips. He nodded shakily.

I need to focus on the NOW. Otherwise Asano-kun will get hurt.

Karma quickly took hold of Asano's wrist and kicked a nearby window. It shattered with ease, and they looked out.

"Ok. It's not too far down." The building rumbled and shook again. They heard screams and shouts nearby. The ground shook. It was chaos. "We need to jump at my count, okay?"

"Just hurry!"

Karma observed carefully, looking for a spot to land on. The more he observed, the more the building collapsed. Asano started to feel the floor shift.

"Karma!"

"Now!" The redhead jumped, Asano following. The strawberry-head felt his stomach drop as he closed his eyes.

Karma had enough time to wrap his arm around Asano's waist. He pulled him close.

Asano felt the impact, but it wasn't as bad as he thought. They rolled a few feet, tumbling on top of each other. When he opened his eyes, he met eyes with his boyfriend on top of him, panting heavily. They looked at each other for a few seconds.

"We...Are we..." Asano's voice refused to speak. His stomach felt all twisty. His lips trembled. His breath was ragged.

"Asano-kun..." Karma flinched as the building rumbled once again. Karma looked up at the building before down at the boy again. "W-We need to get out of here...are you okay? Can you walk?"

The strawberry-head stared at the building as another bomb detonated. The smell of sulfur and gunpowder polluted the air as the nearby emergency sirens rang in their ears. The area was a mess.

"I-I can walk."

The two had landed on a nearby roof, but they needed to get down before the building crashed into them, making their brave jump meaningless.

"Come on!" Karma pulled Asano's wrists and they headed toward a door, which lead to what seemed like a never ending staircase.  When they finally managed to get downstairs, a firefighter ran over to them.

"You two need to get out of here, right now! This building can collapse any moment now, and that can cause some serious damage! Run that way, you'll see the police!"

"My father might still be in there!" Asano said, over the chaos.

"And we know how it happened!" Karma joined.

The man looked at the two, battered kids, before quickly nodding.

"Well, if you two are witnesses then we need to get you boys into car and away from here, stat! And there better be a good explanation for this!"

They were taken to a police car, and quickly shoved inside. "Officer Takamura! They're witnesses in Patrol Car 8!"

"Got it!" A police officer dashed into the car and they started off. "I'm surprised you two boys survived!"

Asano tightly clenched Karma's hand, looking ahead. HIs heart was probably clenching a lot tighter. Karma sneaked a glance at Asano, before squeezing his hand back.

"He'll be ok." The redhead muttered. "Then we'll slam him into jail where he belongs."

Asano nodded, taking a shaky breath.

"Any severe injuries? Bleeding?"

That very question must've triggered something in Karma's body, because a strong throb pulsed from his ankles.

"Urgh...!"

"Karma! Are you ok?" Asano worriedly tried to see Karma's face as the latter clutched his leg with great intensity.

"Fine...Just fine--!" He groaned loudly as the car bumped into a hump. "Oww..."

"The hospital, officer. We need the hospital!"

"Alright!" The officer took a sharp U-Turn and calmly tried to remember the location of the nearest hospital. His trained mind pinpointed the location as he changed lane after lane.

Asano turned around, looking out the back window. The building was audible even from this distance, which meant the damage was overwhelmingly powerful.

"Tch..." Just what was his father planning on doing? Did he really intend on killing thousands of innocent people?

The throbbing started to worsen. The redhead was clutching onto Asano's sleeve in pain, shaking.

"Just bear with it, Karma, only for a bit. We're almost there!"

"Urgh...!"

"Almost there! Just a few minutes. Hang on for a bit, 'kay kid?"

"D-Don't need to tell me..." Karma replied, trying to throw his attention elsewhere. He thrusted his chin back down again as another pulse shook his body.

He must've gotten hurt when we jumped...

Asano tightly hugged Karma, hiding his face in the redhead's shoulder. Ever since that day, Karma's life had been an endless nightmare. He lost his mother because of him, had to go through counseling, got countlessly injured, and now he was going through this...

And the one person he could've taken his anger out on was potentially dead. No, Karma definitely wouldn't have liked that. He's not like that. His victim, dying before he gave out a punishment? That was just wrong, and Asano blamed himself for it.

"I'm sorry." He whispered into Karma's ear. "I'm sorry, Karma..."

"Hehe." Karma giggled, a shiver running down his spine. "Asano-kun is--ugh--apologizing?"

"...I love you."

At this, Karma smiled, although he was still in pain. He nuzzled his cheek into his boyfriend's, feeling the rough skin.

"No need to remind me, Asano-kun. I know."

And just like that, Karma fainted.
