SIDHARTH'S POV

I'm heading to a convention organized by the directive authorities. Regarding the sales.

"Good Morning gentlemen... We are here to discuss the very few topics that would help us in reducing the length of sale cycles and improving the outcomes..." Mr Mehta, the Executive Director welcomed.

"Here's the question.. What would be an ideal seller according to you...?" he asked.

Where almost all of us had raised our hands to answer. He gave Jayker the chance.

"New products require extra steps and extra stakeholders....effective sellers should focus on the buyer’s organization... In short they need to dedicate extra time.. To provide buyer some knowledge about the product.." he said.

"That was apt.. " one of the member of the committee agreed to him.

"I would like to say something here.." I said. They looked up to me.

"It's more important to focus on the efforts  to provide solutions to customers' issues... not just trying to sell them your products or services..." I said.

DJ smiled in reaction to it. "So.. Shukla.. You're trying to say.. Take as much time as needed to resolve the issues.. Instead of launching new items..?"
He asked.

"Sellers don’t know what they need to know... they only figure out knowledge gaps through market exposure and customer conversations... Effective selling needs a  self-service training.. so when a buyer has a new question....they know where to quickly find an answer..."
I said. Returning his smile.

"Agree!" Mr Parekh backed me up.

"Providing great..and memorable services is a great way to build loyalty among your customers and differentiate yourself from the rest...!" he added.

"Yeah.. That is a really good point to think of.." DJ agreed.

"But you see.. We need to come out with something new.. There's always a need to fulfill what's in the trend.. And the market is segmented into different kinds of customers.. Not everybody considers what's low cost.." he said.

"What do you mean Mr. Jayker..?" Mr Parekh  asked.

"That the best pricing strategy isn't always about lowering the prices itself... Shukla's business is all about a affordable cost.. Where's the profit..?" he asked.

"Well.. You said it yourself.. I provide people what they need.. Within a nominal budget.. And about the profit.. You need to learn about management..marketing and operating procedures.. The profit lies in them mostly..!"
By the time I finished, there was pin drop silence.

"Easy gentlemen.. We will be considering everything you mentioned... About Jayker's words.. Since we have been receiving only good reviews from the people.. I don't think there would be any need of change in the processing.." the director said.

"But.." I interrupted.

"Yes.. Yes.. Shukla.. Hum samajh rahe hai.. Tum kyaa kehna chahte ho.. Lekin market me naye maal ki value zyada samjhi jaati hai.. Puraane saman ke prices badhne par log khareedna band kar dete hai.. I hope tum samjhoge.." he said.

This is it? Decided? Jaha profit ki baat aayi, uske aage kuch suna hi nahi!
I simply nodded. Everytime he asked for my consent. Because they really didn't matter anymore. I could see it.

All he considered were that traitor Jayker's words. I bet these two must have had a private meeting before this. I just waited for this convention to end.

"Aaj shayad tera din nahi tha Shukla.. Hard luck ha.. " Jayker patted my back coming out of the hall.

I kept walking straight to the elevator.
