I sort of come up with random scenarios and write them before considering if they'll be entertaining to read. Regardless, I hope you enjoy.
Also, this isn't connected to the other story I wrote. (Coming Out)

Alex was working tirelessly away at his desk, a recent case had been kicking his ass and he wanted to make sure he had everything right before the big trial coming up in a few weeks. He knew the person he was working for was a good guy, he just needed to prove it. Considering his track record, it wouldn't be too difficult, but the opposing side were frustratingly intelligent.
He heard his office door creak open though his eyes didn't leave his computer, "sorry, not right now. I'm in the zone" he said, blindly reaching for his coffee and gulping down the last few drops. At this point it had grown cold and a bit mildewy but as long as it kept his eyes open, he didn't care.
"I'm not... Henry" a soft voice replied. Alex's eyes darted over, widening at the sight of his son's friend standing halfway inside the room, nervously fiddling with his sleeve.
"Ches...ter?" He said hesitantly, glancing towards his coffee. Maybe he shouldn't have continued to drink it. "You're- why are you here? Shouldn't you be in school?" He pointed out, pushing away from his desk and crossing the room towards him.
"No, I took the day off" he explained, drifting a hand down the side of the door.
"And... you came here," Alex said slowly. Chester nodded.
"The um- the guard outside let me in after I said I wanted to talk with you" he offered an explanation, Alex hummed in understanding, he wouldn't have wanted them to send Chester away but he would've preferred if they spoke to him first. He'd have a word with them after, his attention currently lied elsewhere.
"So, why are you here? Were you hurt?" Alex gestured for him to leave the office and he did, the two heading into the living room and sitting down on the couch. Henry was currently a few hours away overseeing one his booming homeless shelters placed in nearly every single state while his son was at school, leaving the two of them alone.
"No, I wasn't. I actually wanted to ask you something" he said.
"Couldn't it have waited until my son next invited you over?" He pointed out, still extremely confused and growing anxious by the minute.
"Yes, but I wanted it to be private. And I didn't want him to worry" he explained, Alex nodded and told him to continue which he did after taking a deep breath.
"So... I know you're a lawyer" he began, "and lawyers usually know right from wrong... right?" He looked up for reassurance, his big green eyes blinking expectantly. Alex half smiled.
"We do, yes"
"Good. So, well... hmm" he pressed his lips together, pulling them apart with a soft 'pop' as he tried to think of what to say. Alex waited patiently, increasingly aware of his abandoned work in his office, but he couldn't send Chester away. Especially when he obviously needed some guidance.
"I'm going to ask you something, you can't ask for any details, just tell me the first thing that comes to mind" he said, crossing his hands on his lap.
"Alright, shoot" he agreed, ready.
Chester straightened his back, "does hating your family make you a bad person?"
Alex hesitated, the question unexpected. Scenarios flitted through his head before he could even respond, many depicting moments where hating a family was justified, others not so much. It wasn't a question that could be answered fairly without the necessary details Chester wasn't willing to give. In this case, Alex went with his gut.
