"Deep breaths, you'll be fine" Henry soothed, sitting behind Romeo as he gently massaged his shoulders, releasing tension from his taut muscles.

"I know, I'm just..." he trailed off, reaching up to brush some hair from his forehead. "Scared"

"You don't need to be. They'll both accept you" Alex reassured, stepping out of the kitchen and into the open space living room with three mugs. He handed a steaming Earl Grey to Henry who thanked him quietly, and some decaffeinated coffee to Romeo.

He sipped nervously.

"I'm not worried that they won't," he said after a moment, gazing hard at the coffee table. "I'm- it's just- I'm scared about how they'll treat me" he said softly, Henry leant forward and used his free arm to hug his waist.

"How do you think they'll treat you?" He asked gently.

Romeo leaned into his chest, hands wrapped around the warm mug. Alex had taken the spot beside them, leg drawn up so he could face them.

"I don't know. I joined this online trans support group awhile ago and they all agree it's a big worry. Like, people will use your pronouns and stuff but they'll always see you as a girl... or boy. Or whatever. You know?" He explained, frowning. Henry shared a glance with Alex, to see their son so upset broke their hearts.

Alex reached over and squeezed his knee.

"I understand that feeling" Henry murmured, "my family knew I was gay yet treated me as if I were straight, and expected me to be straight as well. It's horrid" he said, Romeo turned to face him, wide eyes still glistening with nerves yet appearing eased he wasn't alone.

"I'm sorry you went through that. I'm lucky to have your support" he spoke earnestly, looking over at Alex too. He grinned.

"Well, we are the best dads in the world"

"Will your ego ever cease?" Henry sighed in faux annoyance, Romeo laughed.

"Not until I start graying" he said, oozing confidence in the idea his hair was still in its prime. Henry narrowed his eyes thoughtfully and leaned closer to analyse it. A flush of red coated his cheeks and he shoved him away.

"Don't you dare" he glared.

"Your hair used to be so much darker" Henry mused anyway.

"I'm mentally filing the divorce papers right now" he muttered, Romeo watched the back and forth with an amused twinkle in his eyes.

His parents, ever immature.

"At least I'm not balding" Alex added spitefully, Henry's jaw slacked.

"I am not-!"

A thunderous knocking erupted their arguing, Romeo finished the rest of his drink and stood up, hurrying over to the front door and whipping it open. Nora stood with her arm around June's shoulders, grinning wide.

"Alex and Henry arguing again?" She asked, pulling off her sunglasses and placing them on top of her head.

"How'd you know?"

"You usually answer the door when they are" she shrugged, stepping inside once Romeo moved.

"Lovely to see you, Bug" Alex spoke tauntingly, sprawled across the couch with no obvious plans to move.
