When August woke up in the morning she had specifically positioned her bed to allow streams of sunlight to pour over her face and gently rouse her from her sleep. Behind her the coaxing warmth of Jane lulling her into a sense of safety, and all-encompassing love. When she would slowly roll over, Jane's brown skin would glow honey, and she'd smile softly, kissing across her face until her eyes cracked open and a grin covered her expression.
They'd kiss, roll around, kiss again, disturb their roommates and finally get up for the day.
The bed itself was fine, it was comfortable, it was enough for them. They suggested the idea of memory foam as a possible addition in the future, but neither of them had any complaints. However, August distinctly remembers her mattress not being this comfortable.
And there wasn't any sun.
She reached up to rub her eyes, lips splitting into a yawn. Around her waist a strong arm tightened and she smiled, shuffling back into Jane.
"Good mornin', baby" a gruff voice murmured. August tensed, eyes slamming open. That wasn't Jane .
She sat up and swirled around, the sudden motion causing her brain to swim and eyes to water. Through the blurry vision, she surveyed the bed beneath her. The bed much larger than her own, with dark grey sheets, a stark contrast to her and Jane's purple one. And the person she thought was Jane, who wasn't Jane, blinking and ruffling his hair from his face.
"Henry-?"
She screamed before she could even register he was talking, causing the man to jump up and scream back.
August screamed again; the man copied.
They both had the quilt held up to their bare chests, eyes wide, jaw's slacked.
August screamed a final time, though it came out with the tone of a question.
"Aaahhh?" The man repeated. They remained silent for only about two seconds? Before he sprung out of bed, wildly flinging himself across the room. August, very aware of her nudity, and suddenly very aware of his, kept herself glued to the bed but shielding her eyes.
"Who the hell are you!?" The man screeched like a banshee.
"Who am I? Who are you?" She countered just as loudly, flinging her hand out behind her to the nightstand to try and find her glasses before dumbly remembering this isn't her bedroom .
"Did you kidnap me?" She went on, tugging the blanket closer.
The man croaked, "no! How did you get in here? Where's-? Henry!" He turned away, stumbling into a pair of boxers before slamming open the bedroom door and rushing down the hallway. In the moment of privacy, August looked across the room, spotting a discarded pair of joggers and a random, business looking shirt. Without much choice she hurried over, pulling them on and butting up the shirt before the stranger returned, looking wild and pissed.
"Whatever the hell you did to him-"
"I don't know who you're talking about!" August defended, holding up her hands in surrender, panic coursing through her veins. She didn't get drunk last night; she had a busy evening at Billy's with Jane, as soon as they went home, had dinner, they both passed out in bed.
