"So now, do we just go for dinner?" Priya asks, putting her clothes away. "Seems like that's the plan Adi and Pooja made," Arjun responds.
They head into the elevator and travel up to the rooftop restaurant. Arjun couldn't help but think about how ethereal she looked in the lilac saree. The light cloth, coupled with her simple makeup, tortured his mind. His feelings of love mixed with anger. Anger for leaving him for 6 years. For giving up on their life together. But, more than anything else, he wanted to go back in time and stop himself from hurting her.
Priya was in a similar state. The closeness in the elevator brought back old feelings of warmth and love. She noted how he was wearing her favourite colour- purple, and wondered if it was intentional. Having him this close to her tortured her mind. Her feelings of love mixed with anger and grief. But, more than anything else, she wanted to throw herself into his arms and forget the past. But that was not possible, for he had hurt her in a way she never thought possible. Still, she couldn't help but look at him, only to find him staring back.
The elevator ride seemed to stretch on forever as the two were locked in each others eyes. When it finally opened, both Arjun and Priya let out a sigh of relief. Unintentionally, they brushed against each other as they exited the elevator and walked over to their reserved table and sat down.
Before they could even speak, the waiter comes over with their food. "We didn't order anything yet," Priya says, looking at the food. "The person who booked the table also pre-ordered your meals." The waiter says with a smile before leaving. Priya and Arjun look over the spread in front of them. It was all their favourite foods with one exception- it was all vegetarian. "Looks like Adi and Pooja made sure to spoil you tonight." He mumbles. "You can order meat if you want, no one's stopping you." She responds, taking a plate for herself. "Why? So you can go complain and my kids will hate me even more?" He snaps, instantly regretting his words. "Look-" "No need to explain." Priya interrupts, showing no emotion. "You can believe and say whatever you want, who am I to stop you?" "For goodness sake, can we have one calm dinner before you start a fight?" "Who's starting a fight here? You do you Mr. Arjun. I don't care." Priya still refuses to meet his eyes. "Besides, you pushed Adi and Pooja away yourself, I didn't need to do anything for that." She mumbles. Arjun slams his palms on the table. "Don't come here acting like you're their Amma and you care about them sooooo much." He spits out. "Then don't act like you were their Appa in the past 6 years!" "At least I was there! Instead of leaving everything and fleeing like a selfish coward!" "And who's fault was that?" "Don't you dare pin this on me Priya. I'm the one who saved both Pooja and Pallavi. You just decided to give up on her! I'm the one who continued searching until I found her!" "And then what happened?" Priya pushes, dropping her fork. "Then what happened Arjun? Were you a good father? Did you protect her as she and Adi grieved? Did you do anything when they protested to tell Pallavi the truth about me? No. You built this fake world where you can live happily with Pallavi and your wife- sorry ex-wife!" She sneers. "You have no right to talk when you've been living with your lover- sorry best friend- for the same time!" Priya scoffs, standing up. "You haven't changed at all. I don't even know why I agreed to this stupid thing." Before Arjun can reply, she grabs her purse and storms back to the room.
