Baby's First Kick

I wake up to find my hand linked with Pooja's and Arjun's. I slowly took my hand out and woke Pooja up. "Pooja, Pooja kutty. Time for school." I say. She doesn't get up. Smiling I pull the covers from her, forcing her to get up. She goes to her room to start getting ready as I wash up myself. After I was ready I went into the kitchen to make Arjun some coffee. I bring it into our room. As soon as I step into the room, somebody covers my eyes and takes the coffee cup from my hand. "Arjun," I say taking his hands of my eyes. He places a kiss on my forehead and brings his hands to my baby bump. It has been 6 months since I had gotten the news that I was pregnant, and it was starting to show a lot. "Ready for the appointment today?" He asked bringing me to the mirror. I nodded, "it's not like I have work or anything." I say with a smile. After the fifth month Arjun forced me to stay home, so I was safe. As I pick up my handbag, Pooja runs in, all dressed for school. "I'm ready!" She says hugging me. I smile and reply "I'm ready too, lets go!" We head out the door when atha blocks our path. "Come eat and go." She says. "It's okay I'll get something later, it's getting late." I tell her. "No, you can't go without eating it's not good for the baby." She says. I sigh and we sit down at the table. Atha serves the food for Arjun and Pooja then tells me "your Amma said she has something special for you for breakfast." Right on cue, Amma comes in with a tiffin box and gives it to me. "Molei, you have to eat all of this, it is good for the baby." She says. I nod my head and eat it up.

That night, I climbed into bed beside Pooja. Arjun climbed in on Pooja's other side. "Priyama tell me a story!" Pooja says twirling my hair with her finger. It was a cute habit she did to help her fall asleep. I smile and tell her a story. As I got to the best part, Pooja was almost asleep. I start whispering the ending, when I feel the baby kick me. I jump up excitedly. "Arjun, Pooja!" Arjun gets up alarmed as Pooja rubs the sleep out of her eyes. Without saying a word, I bring both their hands to my stomach so they could feel the kick too. Arjun looks at me with pure happiness in his eyes. Pooja smiles a large smile. "Is it kutty paapa who's kicking?" She asks, I nod as Arjun kisses my head. "Why is she kicking?" She asks. "Oh so you've decided that you want a little sister Pooja?" Arjun asks her. Pooja nods excitedly. "Yes, then I can dress her up, and play dolls with her! I already have a brother, I want a sister!" She says. I smile. "Pooja, the baby is probably kicking  because it liked the story." I told her, answering her previous question. Pooja looks satisfied then lays down to go back to sleep. After she falls asleep I turn to Arjun. He's awake and smiles when he sees me. "So, siddumoonju, would you like a baby girl or boy?" I ask him. He flicks my nose and answers "I want a kutty Priya, how about you?" I smile and take his hand. "I was thinking about a kutty Arjun." I say, flicking his nose. He smiles and pats my head. Holding his hand I fall asleep, feeling like the luckiest person in the world.
