A week has passed, and now it's time for her to leave the place. Lan YuXia was sad knowing that their meeting is so short. She only know a few moves from Wei MeiLan and she thinks its not enough.
"Don't be silly," Wei MeiLan chuckled. "You did well. Just believe that you can do it,"
"But—"
"Want to figure it out?" Wei MeiLan asked. "Let's go to your training ground, show us what you learned from me, and you will know the answer,"
"W-we?" Lan YuXia stuttered.
"Lan Huan and Elder Lan will come. As for your classmates, ignore them. No one will criticize you or will dare to humiliate you. Do what you want, do what you know," Wei MeiLan advised her.
Upon hearing that her senior and teacher will watch, her nerves went high strung. She knows that Wei MeiLan isn't trying to intimidate her, but planning to show that she, Lan YuXia, can do it too.
Some students got wind of the news that Lan YuXia is going to perform a swordsmanship in front of Young Master Lan, their teacher and a woman that the Young Master brought back a month ago.
Out of curiosity, they come to the training ground and be a spectator. When they saw Wei MeiLan, they thought that their former senior, Wei WuXian, pretended to become a woman. But when they saw the gaze of the Young Master and the relaxed expression of the Elder, they decided to reconsider their judgements.
"Lan YuXia," Wei MeiLan called over to her first student. "Are you ready?"
Lan YuXia nodded and pulled her blade out of the scabbard and went into a stance. She tried to remember all of the movements that Wei MeiLan taught to her on those days. Her movements are graceful; compared to the movements she learn in wielding sword, she looked like a dancer, and she swings her sword so beautifully and fast.
Her classmates were mesmerized at her movements. Her wrist flicks in a little movement, sending a blinding light that reflected by the sun. Some of their patterns were integrated with soft movements, but the attacks were still strong and powerful.
She ended it with a flip and a twist and returned to the first posture she did. Her breath was ragged from those movement. When she practiced that by parts at certain time, she wasn't tired like this. But now she understood why she needs a strong legs and flexible wrist.
Compared to Wei MeiLan that executed it with flexible body, she only learned to make her wrist flexible. The toll on executing all those moves was heavy but her heart is light. She now knows why Wei MeiLan told her that.
Wei MeiLan clapped and went towards her. "So how do you feel?"
"Miss Wei," Lan YuXia collected herself before she answered. "It feels good, but your movement is still way better than mine!"
"You don't need to imitate me, silly girl," Wei MeiLan smiled. "Its fine that you have flexible wrist; it will help you a lot when the battle happens. But for now, this is what I can teach you in sword. My first student,"
Lan YuXia was surprised to get recognized by Wei MeiLan. "Master..."
"No. Don't call me master. You might be my first student, but you're not my disciple. You still belong here,"
Wei MeiLan patted her. "Now it's time for me to leave. I will try to visit when I have time. Then I will drag you out here and let's play for a bit. How's that?"
Lan YuXia looked like a child as she nodded. "Yes, Miss Wei. Thank you for your guidance!"
"Remember, it's doesn't matter if you aren't smart. You need perseverance and work hard. I promise you, it will reap good benefits for you,"
After that, Wei MeiLan walked back towards Elder Lan and spoke to him quietly about leaving at that hour. Things won't wait for her if she stall for long. Lan QiRen gave her his blessing to have her a safe journey.
"Child, be careful. If those ordinary people tried to beat you to death again, please fight back," Lan QiRen asked to her. "We protect them from bad things, but we also need to protect ourselves when it's too much,"
"I'll keep that in mind, Elder Lan. It's just that, I don't have my weapons with me when I left my place. My intention was to take a long stroll but I'm not expecting an ambush," She answered honestly.
"Then next time, be careful,"
"I will Elder Lan. Thank you for letting me stay here for a bit," She saluted towards the elder.
"Your presence has made the Cloud Recesses a bit lively. This is the first time I saw a bright Cloud Recesses with an outsider coming over. You can return here anytime you want," Lan QiRen offered her to visit the Lan Clan from time to time.
"I can't promise it, but I will try my best to not disappoint you, Elder Lan," Wei MeiLan smiled to reassure the old man.
As she went down the mountain, she took the boats to return to her lair. The people at the docks upon her return were surprised to see her well and wearing clothes mended in Gusu Lan Clan symbol in different color.
Then the rumors that the Twin Jade of Lan clan came to her rescue was real. After all, the siblings aren't easy to approach. While she, a woman cultivator that they thought that is a demoness, is acquainted with the two. The group who ambushed her almost went home half dead, courtesy by Lan WangJi.
Upon their return, they told everyone that they failed because the Lan siblings interfered and gave them those wounds and bruises. That's when they found out that she's also a cultivator but never brought a weapon with her.
And ganging up on a defenceless person is a shameful act. So they prayed that she is well or the Lan siblings might come after them.
Now seeing her well gave them a huge relief. All that's left is to apologize on their stupid accusations and actions.
Wei MeiLan ignored their gazes and walked back to her barricaded home to take some things before she leaves to finish her unfinished job. All she wants is a peaceful life for her and her beloved ones.
