FORTY SIX

"Can someone remind me why I'm here?" Wei MeiLan asked from her only student, Lan YuXia.

"Lianfang-zun invited you to a gathering here," The other murmured. "This must've slipped from your mind, Master."

The Hidden Water Valley is almost like an extension of Lan clan, with her brocade and her permission to enter even the forbidden places in Cloud Recesses. However, she never abused the privileges she has and still kept a simple life inside the Valley together with the ordinary people who decided to life there peacefully.

She sighed. "I would prefer to grind some herbs or do a paperwork than attend this. However, being a leader of a small Valley forces me to do this,"

Lan YuXia chuckled. "Master, your abhorrence into crowds shows up once again, please bear it for a bit, then we can go home,"

Lan XiChen brought his brother and her brother to the event which was under her insistence. She was casually drinking and eating and went back to rest so that she can leave early and resume her work in the valley.

And of course, her brother will cause mischief that will made everyone witness the suicide of Madam Jin, and revealing his identity. Probably, because of the curiosity and willingness to solve the mystery of the dismembered corpse that is full of malicious energy.

"Sister Mei!" Jin GuangYao called her. "Your brother was alive, why didn't you told this matter?"

"Meng Yao," She answered. "You might be the chief cultivator here, that doesn't mean I require myself to report anything I know to you,"

That shut Jin GuangYao up for a bit.

"Another thing, if he's alive and I told you,what are you gonna do? Kill him again? Drove him to a corner? Do what you did back then?

"Don't start, Meng Yao, I agreed to come to this party of yours for it's an invitation. But if you're going to piss me off, I'll make sure to mess up on your plans,"

Wei WuXian and Lan WangJi got away from the secret room, however, they were cornered from the stairs, surrounded by lots of cultivators.

"I have this urge to stab someone right now," She murmured.

"Qing'er..." Lan XiChen sighed.

"I mean it, Lan Huan. I'm just glad I don't have the Descend with me or I would have stabbed the nearest person who's gonna speak the wrong words tonight..."

Majority of the cultivators sweat dropped in fear when they heard that. Wei MeiLan will indeed stab someone if someone triggers her.

"Wei WuXian! How long have you've been deceiving us? You even deceived Hangguang-Jun!" Jin GuangYao exclaimed.

Wei WuXian tried to push Lan WangJi away from him, but the latter insisted to fight with him until they'll be able to escape.

However, Jin Ling blocked them, and stabbed Wei WuXian.

"A'Ying!" Wei MeiLan screamed, startling Jin Ling and gave them time to escape.

She tried to follow her brother but Lan XiChen stopped her. "No!"

"Qing'er, calm down."

"No. Who called Jin Ling?"

"Calm down, Sister Mei," Jin GuangYao tried to speak. "I did asked someone to call him but—"

*Blag!*

A powerful punch came from Wei MeiLan enough to make Jin GuangYao's lip bleed and made him sit at the steps.

"Chief! You—!" Su She snarled.

"You dare to snarl at me, you little piece of coward?" Wei MeiLan's eyes glowed gold. "You want to play like this? Fine. Fine."

She left Lan XiChen's hold at her and walked away.

"Qing'er...wait!" Lan XiChen tried to follow her but Jiang Cheng stopped him.

"Please let Second sister calm down for a while, Zewu-Jun. She'll come to her senses, don't worry," Albeit unsure, Jiang Cheng gave an assurance to the man.

"She's just shocked that the young man she spent her life to teach just stabbed her only blood relative," He added. "I would be too, if I was on here situation. After all, they've been together through thick and thin way back then,"

Jin Lin, who stabbed Wei WuXian, was in shock. That was the first time he saw his maternal aunt to go livid like that, upon stabbing the person who killed his parents, which was told by his paternal uncle.

Was he wrong all along? Or he did the right thing?

Wei MeiLan returned to her Valley and shut down all possible entry of every cultivator. No one was spared, even Lan Huan. Lan YuXia decided not to leave her master alone and asked the elders of the valley to have someone to watch over outside and give her a heads up on anything.

But Wei MeiLan noticed the movements of corpses in the YiLing mountain that she knows that it wasn't her brother who did it.

How can a wounded and weak body can summon and control lots of corpses so casually like that?

Her hands being tied, she can only watch as it unfolds in front of her.

She laughed sarcastically how things turned out that way. How she wished that she can help them directly to end this problem right away.

She stood at the balcony of her home and gaze at the cloudy mountain that helps them to hide the place. Her brother being wounded with Lan WangJi at his side, she wants to know how Lan XiChen will do next.

Out of respect to her beloved, she never took a peek on what will happen to her beloved, knowing that between the two of them, he's sentimental to relationships.

If he finds out that this mess is caused by his friend that he treated as his brother, she can't imagine his devastation to that revelation.

Lan YuXia stood quietly behind her master as she let her be idle, just for once. She's a weird master, but Lan YuXia is thankful that she was chosen, thus given a chance to have a better life and liberty to do anything she want as long as she won't stain their reputation.

"Master, what will you do next?"

"Wait for them to come down from the mountain. Those cowards dared to mess around on that place, I'll make sure they'll pay the price gravely," Wei MeiLan looked at Lan YuXia. "A'Xia, prepare to go to Lotus Pier. Wait for us in there."

"But—!" Lan YuXia hesitated at first, but she gave up on her idea. "Okay, master."

"It's time for them to know what had transpired sixteen years ago. I don't care if it will be the most painful revelation that they will hear, but it's better not to let them be kept in the dark for so long. Don't you think so, A'Xia?"

"It still depends on the person who's going to receive the information, master," Lan YuXia looked worried about the situation.

Wei MeiLan shrugged it off. "This person is often foul-mouthed, a frank one. So I guess he need to get a taste of his own medicine too..."
