Pick up. Pick up. Pick up. Pick up. I thought to myself as I dialed his number again. Fiona started grabbing at my leg wanting be picked up. I picked her up and held the phone to my ear with my shoulder. It went to voicemail again. "I swear to god, Bellamy Blake! If you are not here to pick up your daughter in the next hour your weekend is NOT happening!" I hang up the phone and throw it on the couch. I look at the little girl that has brown eyes and hair. Her freckles cover her whole face. She is a spitting image of her father.
Bellamy and I have been separated for six months now and it was getting harder to not completely lose it on him whenever I have to explain to our one year old where her dad is. There was a knock on my door and I walked over to answer. It's Octavia. She smiled brightly and Fiona reached for her aunt. I let Octavia in with a sigh. I was really hoping it was Bellamy. I hate disappointing our daughter.
"Where is he?" I ask Octavia and she sighs and hangs her head.
"He was in a late meeting until six. I have been instructed to tell you this. He said he would be here in the next hour or so." Octavia plays with Fiona who was still learning to walk. She hadn't walked by herself yet, but she works hard at it.
"I love him, but this is getting ridiculous." I grumble.
"You still love him?" Octavia asks in surprise.
"Of course. He brought me so much happiness and the most wonderful thing I could ever receive, ever." I say running my hand over Fiona's head. "But we just don't work anymore. Not since Fiona was four months old."
"I still think you guys should work on your relationship." Octavia said. "It was one stupid fight."
"It was the biggest fight we'd ever had. I'm tired of fighting for something I think Bellamy never wanted..." I sighed walking into the kitchen to grab Fiona's sippy cup.
"Bellamy wanted this. He loves you. He's just too stubborn to admit it." Octavia had set Fiona down in her playpen and stood to leave. "I have a feeling this will be a big fight... I'm gunna go." Octavia said patting Clarke on the back.
"I have a date tonight..." I rushed out before Octavia got to the door.
"You what?" Octavia seems kind of angry. "You aren't even divorced yet!" Octavia yells.
"I know that! It's just this nice guy from work... he wants to go out to dinner and I'm pretty sure nothing else will happen. I just need to do something when Fiona is with Bellamy that isn't binge watching Criminal Minds on Netflix." I said a little sheepishly.
"You guys are impossible. If Bellamy doesn't take this as his sign to act now... I don't know what will." Octavia says angrily and leaves.
"Why would he act now?" I whispered confused.
~~~
Knock. Knock. Knock. Bellamy is here. I get up and walk over to the door. I answer it and Bellamy is rushing out an apology as quick as humanly possible. "I'm so so so sorry! The meeting went late and- you're dressed up..." He trails off. His eyes scan my body like the way his hands had done the same thing hundreds of times.
"I have a date." I say and the fighting begins.
"I can't believe you have a date and we're not even divorced yet!" He screams practically.
"We're on our way, right!?" I yell and he actually takes a step back. "How are those new interns working for you, Bellamy?" I question and anger flicks across his face.
"What's the guy's name, Clarke!?" Bellamy yells, a flare of jealousy in his tone.
"Why do you care, Bellamy!?" I scream and I hear something crash and Fiona start crying. "Oh no oh no oh no..." I run to her room and find all of her books and book shelf fallen beside my sobbing baby. "Fifi, you'll be fine. It's just some books." I pick her up and she cries into my neck making a wailing sound.
