What threw Clarke for a loop was finding Murphy completely out of his mind, rambling on about how Jaha was screwing some hologram woman and how he found this completely awesome place with a horrific background. Sure. She may hate Murphy, but she could never push back her curiosity. She went with him back to the promise land.
She didn't expect him to be practically spot on with his ramblings.

It was five months later when they both returned to camp. They were walking side by side smiling and teasing each other with ease. They had become pretty great friends, possibly best friends, during their time together. Murphy would say something completely stupid and then Clarke would find a way to respond in only a way Clarke could.
The time Clarke had taken to collect her thoughts and supposedly be alone were spent with Murphy. There was one night...
"Hey, Griffin! I'm sorry about what I said about the mountain-" his sentence dropped off as he noticed a sniffling Clarke with tear streaks running down her face. "You okay?"
"Not particularly." She tried to say it with fierce, but it came out as a whimper. "I've killed so many people. Hell, I killed Finn. I sent Bellamy into that goddamn mountain. I let a bomb drop on a village. I just killed an entire group of people-an entire civilization. So, no. I'm not okay. I'll never be okay."
"So what." Murphy said simply gaining a strange look from Clarke. "You did all that to save your people. You're a leader. I won't compare you to Jaha because that guy is seriously messed up in the head." Clarke let out a small laugh and Murphy took it as a step further. "You can wallow in your mistakes or you can rise up from them and be the Clarke Griffin who banished me from camp, healed practically the entire camp from a sickness, saved herself after being kidnapped, and got Bellamy Blake to fucking show emotion that wasn't anger."
"Yeah..." Clarke sighed.
"It'll take some time, but you know... I will sit and talk it out with you, Griffin." Murphy leaned back on his hands while Clarke did the same to watch the stars.
...they stayed in the Promise Land and handled the whole Jaha screwing a hologram chick thing. Their friendship built with a weird ease that was odd for both of them. They stayed in a bunker for a couple weeks and their friendship was a comfortable thing to her. Then Clarke realized she was missing her people more and more with each passing day.
"Bullshit, Clarke. You miss a certain brown eyed and curly brown haired man that is hopelessly in love with you." Murphy laughs as Clarke shoves his shoulder as they walk through the woods getting closer to the camp. He pushes her back and she trips over something.
"Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow shit. That hurt! God damn!" She cries out grabbing her ankle.
"I'm sorry, Grif." Murphy starts apologizing profusely. "Piggy back ride?"
"Yes!" She says excitedly and climbs on his back. He carries her to the gates of the camp as they open. Bellamy is at the head of the herd of people suddenly very worried/angry. "Bellamy!" Clarke jumped off Murphy's back and runs to him throwing her arms around him. She wasn't even thinking when Bellamy brought his arms around her body tightly.
"Hi, Clarke." He murmured into her neck. He squeezed the life out of her. "I missed you." He mumbles and feels her smile against his neck. "Why is Murphy with you?"
Clarke leans back with a laugh. "Why wouldn't he be with me?" It was a ridiculous question to her.
"What?" Bellamy questions in surprise.
"Well, I've spent the last how many months with him. It's like second nature." Murphy coughed behind her in warning. "What?" She faces him.
"Bellamy is a jealous guy, Griffin." Murphy explains and squeezes her shoulder before Abby is pulling him into the infirmary for a gash on his arm.
