"We aren't three years old anymore, Blake! I can hangout with whoever I want!" Clarke yells at her best friend.
He scoffs and shakes his head. "I don't think you know this guy well enough."
"That's why we're hanging out." She starts throwing her clothes around and they hit Bellamy repeatedly until he's toppling off her bed with a loud thud. "Stop falling off stuff."
Bellamy stood up slowly. "Stop throwing things."
"Stop telling me what to do." She throws a sweater at him this time.
"This is endless." Bellamy sits on her windowsill. "Finn is not your kind of guy."
"Than who is?" Clarke pauses in her actions.
"M- I don't know, but not him." Clarke continues as Bellamy moves to pout on her windowsill.
"Are you worried he'll interfere with our Thursday night bowling?" She walked over and stood between his legs.
"Maybe..." Bellamy looked up at her and pouted.
"That could never happen." Clarke said and kissed his forehead. "You're my best friend. No one will ever come between us." She hugs him and moves back to her closet.
"Yep... Best friends until the end." He mumbled with a sigh.
Three Months Later...
"Hey, Bellamy!" Clarke called down the hallway and ran up to him with a big smile on her face. "Finn finally wants me to meet his parents tonight!"
"That's great prin-wait... Tonight? It's Thursday..." Bellamy said slowly. He waited for Clarke's realization to dawn.
"Oh." She looked down.
"It's fine. I'll go with the guys. Have a nice night." Bellamy walks away and Clarke feels like she was hit by a bus with guilt.
That night Bellamy has a great time bowling with the guys and he met a girl who was pretty cool. He pulls into the driveway and sees Clarke's car on the side of the street. He finds her sitting on the front steps looking at her shoes. "What's up, Clarke?" He asks getting out of his truck. She jumps up at his words and runs over throwing her arms around him in a tight, meaningful hug. That's when he realized she was crying. "What happened?" He wrapped his arms around her tightly and wouldn't let go until she spoke. He loosened his hold and let her talk.
"His parents tore me apart." Clarke said looking at her shoes again. "They asked about my parents and it was horrible. I had to tell them my dad is dead and my mom is always gone on some medical conference. That my only family is practically my best friend and that brought up your name and Finn got all jealous even though I've told him for months that we're just friends and you're like my brother. He doesn't want me to hang out with you anymore and I told him that he has nothing to worry about, but he said that he didn't believe me and-"
Bellamy cut off her rambling. "Clarke, what did you say about us hanging out to him? Like what we do and stuff?" Bellamy honestly wanted to know.
"Yeah. Like when we go to the movies and I always put the reese's pieces into the popcorn and we eat it together because he wouldn't let me do that. How we go to horror movies every time they finally make it to this tiny little town, even though I'm practically sitting in your lap by the end because I try to say I'm not scared, but I really am. How when my mom is out of town you stay at the house so I'm not alone. I told him how every Thursday we go bowling because I have hated Thursdays since my dad died so you keep me busy. I told him about how we hang out under the bleachers at the football game because it's more fun than sitting in the stands. I told him... A lot, Bell." Clarke looks confused.
"Dammit, Clarke. The things we do... as friends... they seem really couple-y to other people. We do things that... Cause other people to think we're dating-"
"But I told him we weren't."
Bellamy takes a deep breath. "Maybe he picked up on the fact that I'm in love with you." He says and holds eye contact with Clarke. "Unlike you." He says it so slowly, she barely hears him.
"You're in love with me?"
"Yeah. I'll see you tomorrow, Griffin." Bellamy walks around her into his house.
"Bell-" he shuts the door on her.
For the next three weeks, Bellamy avoids Clarke at all costs. He sits in the back of all their classes and ditches the ones with assigned seats. It's not like Clarke is not doing the same thing. She did not know how to handle Bellamy's feelings for her anymore than he did. She was at her locker when Finn came over all smirks and arrogance. "Are you ready to apologize, princess?"
"For what?" Clarke was honestly confused. She thought they were done.
"For the other night at my house." Finn said obnoxiously.
"Am I going to apologize for the way you and your family treated me like I was less than nothing? No. I'm not." Clarke closed her locker and faced him head on. "Should I forgive you for being the reason I got in the biggest fight I've ever had with Bellamy?"
"This isn't about Bellamy!" Finn yells.
"Why are you so angry when I mention him?" Clarke is confused again.
"Because I want to prove that you two aren't together! This was a stupid bet and I've lost because of some bitchy, blond, mommy issues, know it all who looks at her best friend like he hung the moon! I've got some news for you, little miss perfect, Bellamy is an arrogant, know it all, 'won't make it out of high school', asshole who couldn't care less about you except getting in your pants!" Finn snapped and Clarke's hand came up and slapped him straight across his face. "You bitch!"
"You can call me every name in the book, but don't you ever talk about my best friend like that!" Clarke snapped. "Bellamy is the kindest, smartest, most honorable asshole I know! Don't you ever talk about him that way again." Clarke stomped on his foot and left the school heading for Bellamy's house.
"Bellamy Blake, you answer this door right now!" Clarke yells and the door swings open to Bellamy looking slightly nervous. Clarke looks him up and down and cannot believe she did not realize how madly in love she is with this boy. She grabs his collar and pulls him down to her lips. She kisses him senseless and slightly angrily. She finally pulls away from him when she cannot breathe anymore.
"Wow. You've definitely gotten more practice since the sixth grade." Bellamy teases lightheartedly. "What was that for?"
"Bellamy Blake, I am endlessly, hopelessly in love with you and I'm sorry about our fight. I'm sorry it took me so long to see it. I'm sorry-"
"Shut up and jump up a bit." Bellamy is smiling giddily when she jumps and he catches her as she wraps her legs around him tightly. He kisses her and Clarke actually moans into his mouth at the sensation. "I've wanted years to do that."
"I'm not so glad you waited." She kicks the door closed behind herself as they fall to the couch and stay there all night until Aurora and Octavia come home.
"Bell is kissing Clarke on the couch!" Ten year old Octavia yells to her mother.
"It's about time!" Aurora yells and Clarke and Bellamy are blushing fiercely.
