I showed my dad the same funny conversation I had with my lesbian friend a few hours after my mom and my mom was a few feet away and joined the conversation kind of using the same logic as last time saying how there are girls and boys, and how "even intersex people usually pick a side" and other stuff.
My dad and I kind of ignored those comments. Then my mom started asking my dad related questions.
Then right there at the table having lunch with my mom and dad, I pulled up my Pinterest board with all the gay memes and jokes and making fun of the straights.
Then I started showing my mom and dad some of them and reading them out loud. My mom didn't really say anything about it but I felt kind of proud I was able to do that in front of them. Usually I'm a suck up. (I know, I'm a awful, cringey, wimp. I'm sorry.)
My mom seems ok with all of the different sexualities and being transgender, but not ok with people not identifying as a girl or a boy. I don't think she's just uneducated anymore.
