Literally no one asked, but no one wanted me to write about all my problems.
I honestly have no idea what I want to do with my life, but being a teacher sounds cool so maybe I want to do that, and I like history so maybe I would want to teach 6th-grade history, be an art teacher (they are usually pretty chill), that one cool substitute, or 4th/5th grade in general bc that's (at least how my) elementary school is/was. I don't want to have to deal with little children and 4th/5th graders are kind of but also not really mature. I want to be like my 5th grade teacher, she was young-ish (23 I think), either chill or kinda hyper, hid herself snacks around the classroom and gave them out as prizes, dressed pretty casually, was always sitting/standing on her circular doughnut desk in the back of the classroom, had quotes/cool artwork around the room(I would want a pride flag up there somewhere), had LEDs behind the board(s) and lit up the classroom with lamps instead of the actual lights, had a book corner with actually good books and cool chairs, and was just actually friends with her students but still actually had some rules and form of discipline.
I don't know if this is cringy but my first-day-of-school-intro or something would probably be something like this. "Hello, my name is M(r)s. _______ but that's long and annoying so just call me Ms. Abbie or something. My pronouns are she/her, my favorite animal is a hedgehog, and I have lived in Bangladesh and (where ever my dad drags us next, probably Latin America). Some rules or things I have to say are 1. no disrespecting anyone although that's just human decency. 2. I honestly don't care what you are wearing as long as it is not completely indecent, that also means you can wear your hoods/hats or show your shoulders if you would want and are comfortable. 3. I am not going to get mad at you for cursing or swearing but I would rather you not in case some other students are uncomfortable or don't like it. And 4, If you have any problems or things you would like to talk about you can either come up to me or you can write to me and put it in that mailbox thing by my desk (yes, I would probably be one of those teachers)."
You know those 'get to know you' packets that teachers give you in elementary, I would make sure mine had 'prefered name' at the top instead of just 'name' in case the one their parents write down is wrong, 'pronouns:' and then an example of what they are ('she/her, he/him, they/them'), and then maybe some questions asking things related to anxiety and such to see if they would be okay with frequently coming up to the board/presenting and such but I would not just ask "are you comfortable with answering questions on the board?" or something because even if it's not good I know some kids would just say 'no' to get out of having to answer questions. And ofc I would have some questions asking about what they liked and disliked about their past teachers so I can know their learning style and maybe what could help them, but I would also ask some questions to get to know them better such as 'what are 2 things you think you could improve about yourself?', 'what are 3 of your talents?', 'what are 4 things you like about yourself?' and maybe a few more even if it's kind of cheesy.
I kind of want to know if you would have liked a teacher like that when you were in 4-6th grade or maybe write about what kind of teacher you would be/want in the comments.
