I am going to start marking when time has gone by because I was going back through my book and realized where there can be some confusion on whether time has passed or not

-Jamie- -Next day-
While Carmin was at work, I started setting up his surprise in the middle of his living room. I moved the couch closer to the television so that I would have room for everything.
I then placed a small round table in the middle of the living room and threw a red cloth over it. Looking at the clock, I noticed that I was running behind. 'He'll be off work in thirty minutes. I have to work faster!' I quickly though.
-Carmin- -Time passed-
I put my key in the lock and turned, unlocking my apartment door. When I stepped in, I noticed the lights were off. I closed the door when I walked in and set my keys down my door side table. Then, I fidgeted around for the light. Before I could turn the light on, I heard the clicking of a lighter behind me. Turning around, I saw two candles lit on a round table. I could see Jamie through the small amount of light being given off by the candles.
"What is this?" I chuckled.
"I decided to treat you to a little dinner," He smiled back at me.
"You don't have to."
"But I wanted to. Please sit," he said, pulling a chair out for me to sit. When I did, he ran into the kitchen and brought over two plates that had steak, asparagus and mashed potatoes.
"Wow, this smells amazing! Did you make it?"
"Psht, no," he giggled, " I got it from a restaurant down the street." I grinned and rolled my eyes as he poured me some red wine.
"You know, I am still not yet twenty one."
"And?" Jamie chuckled, sitting down. We then started to eat.
-Time lapse-
We just finished washing the plates when Jamie said, "Come with me, I have a present for you." He then grabbed my by the arm and pulled me up the stairs. He basically made me run up the stairs. That was not good because of my health in the past. At the top of the stairs, I took huge breaths, trying to stabilize my breathing. We walked into my room and Jamie let go of me to fidget around under my blankets. I was still trying to catch my breath, but it got more difficult.
"Here," he smiled, handing me a medium size box. I didn't take it. By this time I had fallen to the floor because I could not breathe.
"Carmin!" Jamie shouted.
-Jamie-
Carmin suddenly fell to the floor. I tossed my gift back on the bed, and got on my knees.
"Carmin!" I shouted. I noticed him fidgeting around in his pants pocket. He then pulled out and inhaler and put it to his mouth, squeezing it and inhaling. He then tossed the thing to the other side of the room. It was empty.
"Call... an... ambulance...," he said between breaths. I nodded, not letting tears fall, and pulled out my phone, calling the ambulance.
---
When we got to the hospital, they would not let me see him until they got his breathing stabilized. I had been waiting in the waiting room for two hours now. Then his doctor came out to see me.
"Is there any family we can call?" He asked me. Thinking back on it, he never mentioned any family.
"Not that I know of." He nodded and then said, "alright then. You can come back and see him. His room number is 204."
"Thank you," I said, getting up and starting for his room.
As I walked into his room, I saw him covered in tubes to keep him stabilized. I picked up one of the chairs and put it beside of his bed where I took his hand in mine. He was asleep, so it's not like he knew I was there.
"Please be okay," I whispered.
"I-I'll be fine," Carmin stuttered through the oxygen mask.
"You're awake?"
"I'm not asleep," he tiredly chuckled. I felt him lightly squeeze my hand. Standing up, I bent over and kissed his forehead.
"Here, I never got the chance to give this to you," I said, placing the box on his lap. He slowly pulled the top off of the box and pulled out a card, reading it out loud and making me blush.
"Carmin, we've known each other for a while now. We've done many things together since then. You make me happy to be around you. So, I was wondering, would you like to be my boyfriend?" He read and then pulled out the small teddy bear that I placed in there earlier that read, "be mine?" He put the note and bear down and then looked at me.
"Yes, Jamie."
