I am SO sorry for neglecting to post guys. This is just going to be a short little filler chapter -because I have gone brain dead and also have to update another book- to something much bigger. I am close to ending this story actually! Anyway, here you go <3
It was the first day that Carmin was able to sleep without the breathing mask on. He does have to wear a nasal cannula at all times. I have not let his side since the first day he was admitted.
He laid peacefully asleep on the bed. I could hear his soft breaths as he slept. Getting up, I walked over to the mattress and pulled down the transfer rail down. He moved a bit at my loud actions. I then carefully lay down beside of him. It wasn't long after that he woke up.
"Mmm, Jamie?" He whispered, rubbing his eyes.
"Yea, it's me," I chuckled, adjusting my position on the small bed, "how are you feeling?"
"Better than yesterday and the day before that," he laughed.
"That's good." I placed my hand on his face and started to slowly stroke it.
"What the hell are you doing?"
"Rubbing your face, dickfart."
"What on earth kind of nickname is that?"
"I don't know," I chuckled, pecking his lips for the first time. I heard a cough come from the doorway. Looking up, I saw Carmin's nurse.
"Oh, uh, sorry," I said, scrambling off of the bed. She smiled and rolled her eyes, walking over to Carmin. She changed his bags out and left. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. Huffing, I pulled it out and walked into the hallway.
"Hello?" I questioned.
"Guess who didn't get sent to jail!" A familiar voice sang from the other end of the line.
"Stay the hell away from be Kriss."
"Why babe? You know you love me!"
"No I don't."
"You've been screwing that Carmin kid, haven't you?"
"It's none of your business whether I have or have not!"
"Ba-."
"Leave. Me. Alone," I said before hanging up and turning my phone off. I stood outside of the door for a few minutes, calming down before I stepped back into the room.
"Who was that?" Carmin tiredly asked when I walked back in.
"Oh, a telemarketer," I lied.
"You were shouting. Jamie, you're a terrible liar. Who was it?" Sighing, I said ,"K-Kriss."
"If that little shit comes within ten feet of you," suddenly, his heart monitor started to beep faster, cutting him off.
"Calm down, Carmin. I'll take care of it myself. I promise."
"Are you really going to take care of it, Jamie? Really?"
"Yes, I will." I lied, knowing that I would not be able to take care of it.
