Thank you so much for #455 in fanfiction! That made my day! :D

I open the door to my room to find Luke standing out in the hallway wearing black jeans, a red and black flannel, and a grey beanie on his head. He looks pretty great and I have to stop myself from saying so.

"Hey, thanks for coming to get me. I could've just come down to the lobby though," I say.

"It's no problem." He gives me a tight-lipped grin and stuffs his hands in his pockets. "You look nice, by the way."

He turns and starts walking towards the elevators, leaving me to look down at my unimpressive outfit of a sweatshirt and skinny jeans.

"Thanks?" I follow him to the elevators just as the doors open. On the ride down, he does everything possible to ignore eye contact in the mirror-walled box. "Okay, are you going to be weird all night?" I finally say, after six floors of awkward silence.

"Am I being weird?" He turns to face me for only the second time since I answered my door.

"Yes!"

"Sorry. I just—I don't really—it's been a long time since I was just friends with a girl."

"Oh," I say before looking down. I don't really want to think about what he has been with girls...

He sucks in a deep breath as the doors of the elevator open in the lobby.

"From this point on, I will do my best to not be weird." He offers me an arm, which I take with a smile and let him lead me out to his awaiting car.

"Well, you're kinda always weird..."

"And you're always rude." I let out a gasp of indignation and nudge him with my elbow before getting in the car. "It's a good pairing really. I don't know why we ever fought," he continues with a smirk.

 "Ha ha. Very funny."

We fall into easy conversation during the car ride with a nice backdrop of rock music to cover any lulls. Before I know it, we've arrived at the theater. After parking, we make our way to the front ticket booths. Once we get our tickets, I start looking around for Cody or any of the other surfers. I spot him and two friends inside by the concessions, popcorn already in-hand.

"There they are." I lead Luke over and pull up into the group between Cody and the only other girl who I am pretty sure is named Kayley or something. Cody greets me with a smile and then looks to Luke with a slight question on his face.

"Hey, guys," I start. "This is my friend, Luke."

Cody extends his hand first. "Nice to meet you, man. I'm Cody."

The other guy, Kurt, and the remaining girl, who it turns out is named Mandy, also introduce themselves. I recognize Kurt as one of the guys I've been taking pictures of the past few days. I think he's one of the leaders, in fact.

"Should we go get seats?" Mandy says. We all nod and follow her lead to our theater.

"Oh, wait. I'm going to get some popcorn. Anyone else want anything?" Luke asks before we round the corner.

"Nah, we're good," Kurt says, holding up a tub of popcorn.

Luke gives him a nod and turns to me. "What about you?"

"I'm okay."

"All right. Save me a seat?"

I smile and nod before he disappears into the line of snack buyers. When I turn to head toward the theater, I find Cody staring at me. I raise an eyebrow in question.
