Damian rubbed Elena's back soothingly, attempting to calm her nerves. It was the day of the coronation ceremony, as well as it being their wedding. They had been planning this months after they had arrived, postponing the coronation ceremony, as they found it would be in better support of their cause, gender equality, if they did. Hopefully, it would bring the people to the realization that men weren't monsters, far from it in fact. Damian was certain he could change their minds, and this was what they needed to do it.
"Excuse me," a young servant said, "But you need to be out there in five minutes."
Damian gave her a curt nod and she scurried off. He kissed Elena's forehead before pulling her up from her seat.
"Don't worry, El, you'll be fine," he said.
She nodded, wanting to believe him. She had never been that big on being the center of attention, and this was in front of the entire kingdom.
Damian straightened his gray suit jacket (A/N: Picture in media) and walked out the door. Elena followed another young woman to the hall entrance, where Tyson stood waiting, arm extended. She linked arms with him and the music sounded, signaling their entrance. After Paisley, Max, and Kaiden, they entered, each step they took on beat and in synch, just as they had practiced. They reached the end of the aisle, and Tyson helped Elena up the stairs before resuming his place as best man, as her heels were so high, she couldn't manage on her own. She slowly made her way up the stairs and gazed up at her soon to be husband. He smiled at her and the ceremony started. They commenced with the typical coronation ceremony, followed by their vows.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may kiss the bride," the minister said.
Damian grabbed her by the waist, pressing his lips against hers. Although they had kissed many times before, this one felt different, bringing more butterflies to her stomach than ever before. The crowd erupted in applause, a few disapproving glances from the people against their marriage, but almost everyone was supportive, just like they had both hoped.
---
The afterparty was quite classy, just the way Elena had wanted it. The lights were dim, setting the mood, the colours like the rest of the wedding. subtle pastels.
A little while into their dinner, Damian stood up, "I'd like to propose a toast, to my beautiful wife. I can't believe I finally get to call her that, it's been my dream ever since I laid eyes on her. Without Elena, I wouldn't have made it here, I would be in hiding. My sister would be in a severe state of depression, as well as abused, and this world wouldn't be the way it is now. Elena, you are my everything, and I'm so glad I get to share my life with you."
The others cheered, and Elena stood up, kissing him on the lips. It was right then and there, that she knew exactly what she wanted. She wanted to spend her whole life with Damian.
