It was sunset before Rick and Daryl turned up with out Sophia causing Carol to break down into tears on the side of the road. Everyone stood around whilst Lori cradled Carol in her arms. "You didn't find anything?" Carol said, "her trail went cold, we'll pick it up at first light." replied Rick but that just made Carol angrier. "You're gonna leave her out their in the woods, by herself." she snapped, "I know, I know but I promise we'll find her." Rick said kneeling down to Carol's height. "How could you just leave her out there to start with?" she asked, tears streaming down her face. "You don't understand, those walkers were right on us, it was the only thing I could do if we were both to survive." Rick explained. "Sounds like there was nothing he could Carol." said Shane kneeling down, I felt something tap my shoulder and I turned round to see Daryl, pointing to the RV. Before I could answer, he had a grip on my hand and pulled me towards the RV. "What?" I asked as we entered the RV, "we need to talk." he said and I shrugged my shoulders. "About?" I asked sitting down on the counter, "the boys." replied Daryl peering out the window at our boys and my boy. "Daryl, what are you on about?" I asked, "what happens if one if them go missing?" he asked and I slapped his face.
"First off, sorry about that but reality check. Second, that's never gonna happen because they've got three of the strongest men in this camp watching them. Also can we talk about what Hunter pulled off, he walked from Atlanta back to camp by himself." I snapped as Daryl held his cheek. "What about Rick?" Daryl asked, I sighed and looked at my brother through the window. "He's got his own family to worry about." I said. "Kat." I heard Shane call from outside, I caressed Daryl's cheek and he held my hand there. "Don't worry Dixon, they'll be fine." I said kissing the tip of his nose and exiting the RV. I walked over to Shane, who was cradling a sleeping Jason in his arms, I planted a kiss on his forehead before looking up at Shane. "Looks like we're sleeping in the RV tonight babe." he said and I smiled. "I don't mind, do you?" I asked and Shane smirked at me. "Might be a little tight in there and not enough room to screw around." whispered Shane, I slapped his shoulder playfully causing his to laugh. "Shane." I said as we walked off towards the RV. Shane lay Jason down on one of the beds in the back, whilst I set up a nice make shift bed on the floor for me and him.
Shane lay down beside me and wrapped his muscular arm around my shoulders. I curled up into his side, he still smelled like his aftershave mixed with pine trees. I took it all in, Shane rubbed my arm and I kissed his cheek. "Night babe, I love you." I said, "I love you too Kat." he said and we drifted off...
The next morning we huddled around a car, "everyone takes a weapon." Rick said as Shane handed me his hand gun. "You remember how to work it, right?" asked Shane smirking at me, I snatched it from him and slid it between my waistband and belt. "Yes, those lessons and living with you did help Shane." I said and he chuckled. "Are we taking Jason?" I asked and Shane looked down at Jason. "What do ya wanna do bud?" he asked leaning down to Jason's height. "I wanna come with you and momma." Jason replied gripping my hand. "Ok then, it's settle." I said gripping Jason's hand back. "These aren't kind of weapons we need." protested Andrea, "didn't we already have this conversation?" asked Shane with a 'duh' tone. "We can't have people poppin' off rounds everytime a bush rustles." Shane continued. "It isn't the trees I'm worried about." Andrea stated glaring at me. "The only people carrying is me, Rick, Daryl and Cody." replied Shane and now I was receiving death glares from Andrea. "What about your wife?" asked Andrea pointing at me, "unlike you I know how to handle a gun." I snapped. Andrea was now up in my face, glaring at me and I just stared. Shane pushed Andrea away from me, "my wifr is trained in it's us, I taught her myself and if no one can watch her back, she's got protection." said Shane and I gripped his arm, pulling him back gently.
So after the little falling out, we headed out to look for Sophia. Shane kept me close to his side and I did the same with Jason. I could understand why he wanted to come but I wasn't comfortable with him being out here. Daryl had left Ryder back at the RV with Dale and T-Dog, who had cut his arm real bad during the herd of walkers yesterday. "You ok babe?" asked Shane and I snapped back into reality. "Yeah, I'm fine." I replied. "Sorry about that whole thing on the highway." he said grasping my hand. I chuckled, "it's fine, she was being a bitch." I said causing Shane to laugh quietly. We stopped at a tent, Daryl decided to be the one to check it as Rick and Carol moved a little bit closer. "Sophia, we're all here baby." she called out but no response, not even from Daryl. "Daryl." Carol said but no response. A few seconds later, Daryl emerged from the tent with no Sophia. "Weren't her, some guy. Did what Jenner did. Opted out, ain't that what he called it?" Daryl asked/explained and everyone nodded except Andrea. She was still mad at Dale for saving her life, which makes complete sense, be mad at the guy who cared enough to risk his life for yours. God.
