I didn't speak to Rick after that day. Now I was sitting in a divided group with most wanting Randall dead but Dale...
Dale being the moral compass he is, demanded he got to try and sway peoples opinion on it and Rick (completely out of character) allowed it.
I decided to avoid my brother as did Shane. He went off to brood, so I sat with Jason on the front porch. Daryl had also kept his distance from Rick because of course I told him. I couldn't not tell him. He'd probably figure it out eventually and then be even more pissed than he already was.
Jason scribbled away on a piece of paper with a blue marker, his baby blues concentrated on the piece of crumpled paper but it kept him busy and happy, so I had no issue.
My mind was more focused on Hunter's fifteenth which was tomorrow. As my train of thought wandered, I heard the clatter of claws on hardwood and looked up to see Dixon. The burly German Shepherd planted himself beside Jason, gently nudging his cheek with his wet nose.
I smiled at the cute gesture to get Jason's attention. Cody then appeared, a warm look on his face and sweat pouring off his forehead. "This heat's killin' me." he grumbled in his thick southern accent. It was softer than Daryl's, who's was raspy and gruff.
"If you sat down for once, then maybe you wouldn't look like you were about to collapse." I replied removing myself from my chair and offering him the seat. He shook his head but I insisted. Cody chuckled, sitting himself down and smiled up at me.
"Dale spoke to you yet?" he asked, squinting one eye due to the sun. I shook my head, "no but no doubt he will." I replied. Cody leaned back in the chair and let out a loud sigh. "I hate to say it Kate but I agree with him... And so does Hunter." Cody stated.
I looked over to the RV, Dale was on the roof with Hunter, the two exchanging conversation as they did everyday. I smiled and looked back at Cody. "Can you watch Jason for a sec? I gotta go talk to Shane." I asked, he nodded smiling pleasantly and I made my way over to the other end of the farm.
HUNTER'S POV
After talking to Dale for a bit, I didn't have much to do. Everything felt tense since my mom and uncle fell out. I noticed Carl wander off into the woods which just spelled bad news for me, so I decided to follow him.
Whilst following Carl, I felt followed myself. Like someone was watching me, it wasn't until I turned around fast enough that I caught Ryder and Jason quietly following me through the woods. "What are you two doing?" I asked folding my arms across my chest and tapping my foot.
Jason stepped out and walked up to me, his head hanging low and eyes concentrated on the ground. "We wanted to know what you were doing." he explained and I smiled. Ryder followed him over and both little kids looked up at me with small smiles. "Alright. C'mon." I said finally giving in.
I grumbled to myself when I lost Carl's trail. I was about to give up when I heard Carl start yelling. My head snapped in the direction and took the boys hands before taking off in the same direction. Suddenly my body collided with another causing me to call to the ground. My first thought was walker but when I heard Carl's heavy breathing I relaxed.
I sat up to meet my cousin's gaze. "What are you doing?" I asked, feeling my temper want to take over. Carl paused for a second, his eyes shifting nervously but he eventually answerd. "Nothing." he snapped getting back to his feet. I copied and helped my brothers up. "I heard you yelling... What happened?" I asked angrily.
This time he didn't answer but instead pushes past me and walked back to camp...
Later that might...
I stood on the porch, anger pulsating through my body, creating a great desire to punch something. Rick literally just shut down Dale, went to kill Randal and then never went through with it.
I wanted to tell Dale the good news but he was no where to be found. I was about to load my crossbow when I heard Dale yelling, sounding like a struggle. "No." I said jumping off the porch and running for the field.
"Dale!" I shouted running as fast as I could. That's when I saw it. A walker on top of Dale and huge hole in Dale's stomach. My anger but its max and I tackles the walker, stabbing it in the skull and scuried back to Dale's side. Tears started cascading down my cheeks. "Hang on Dale." I said turning round.
"Help! Someone please help!"
Then I heard the group come running. First Dad turned up and soon everyone else did too. I wouldn't leave Dale, tears blurred my vision and soon enough I was sobbing aloud. That's when I felt someone's arms snake around my waist and pull me away.
It was my mom... I could tell by the tune she was humming...
BANG!
Dale's suffering was over...
And mine has just begun...
