"Liam, I swear if you take any longer I'm gonna-"
"Okay, hold the phone. No need to get all violent on me, Dakota. Calm down."
I stand at the door, my bags starting to hurt my shoulders. I've been waiting for my brother for what seems like an eternity.
"In all seriousness, though. Why does going to the beach have to be such a struggle?" I ask him.
"I'm a high-maintenance boy." Liam says, frowning at me.
I push him out the door. "Aren't we all."
Liam drives to the beach in silence. Not that I'm complaining. As Liam and I hop out of the car, I make a vine. Throwing my arm around my brother, I press the screen of my phone.
"Hey guys! I'm Dakota here with my awesome twin, Liam. Trip to the beach on a sunny Sunday morning. Lol. Follow me if you like the beach as much as we do!!!"
The second it ends, Liam shakes me off. "Don't touch me." He teases.
I raise my eyebrows at him. "Well someone has their panties in a wad." I say sarcastically, shoving him and sprinting toward the entrance. He follows, right on my heels, screaming at me like a lunatic.
I laugh as I make a sharp turn and smack into someone. "Sorry." I mumble, stumbling back a step. I pick up my bag and keep running, picking up my pace. Looking back, I see a brown-haired boy following me, right on my trail. What the hell? Why is he following me.
"Wait!" He yells, making me cringe. I skid to a stop, swiveling around to face him.
"What?!"I ask, a little rudely.
He stops, his chest waving with deep breaths. "Don't go all rampage on me. Jeez. You're the one who slammed into me, honey."
I wince. "DO NOT call me honey ever again."
He looks at me, confused. "Wait you don't know me?"
I make a face at him. "Wait what?"
"You seriously don't know who I am?"
I stare at him blankly. "Um, nooooo. Am I supposed to?" Creep.
"Uh, yea." He says, not doing a very good job of hiding the 'duh' from his voice. He waves his hand in the air, brushing the conversation away. "Look, kid. Forget it. You dropped your wallet. No harm no foul. Take it back and I'll just be going."
I snatch my wallet from him and then turn to go.
"No 'thank you'?" I turn around at that and the boy stares at me wide eyed, my brother catching up to us and falling into position beside me. "What's going on, Dakota? Who's he?"
I cross my arms. "That's my problem." I state, throwing in some attitude just to piss the kid off. "I don't know."
The kid just smirks at me. "Have you lived under a rock all your life?" And that's when I lunge. Grabbing his shirt collar, I get up in his face.
"Shut up, jerk!" I shout, pushing him to the ground, grabbing Liam's arm and running the other direction.
"Call me!" The boy shouts, getting up and brushing himself off. I laugh. Never in a million years jerk, I think. Not only do I NOT have his number, I'd never call that idiot even if my life depended on it.
"What just happened?" Liam asks breathlessly, running along side me.
I shake my head. "You know, I really couldn't tell ya."
