Kaeya, cavalry captain of Favonius, was standing in the cave's entrance, staring at you with his one blue eye, a smirk on his face.
"Hello there, y/n," he said. "I see you need some help with this wolf. What medical supplies do you need? I can teleport to Mondstadt and get them for you."
You were about to say what you needed, but then you remembered how you had offended and insulted Kaeya earlier in Dragonspine. There was no way he would live down any insult, even this small one. He wasn't going to help you, he was just joking.
"Stop joking!" you snapped. "If you want to help, you know what medical supplies I need. Just go get them!"
He stayed standing in the same place, his eyes glittering with mischief.
"You know I'm joking. Smart girl," he said, smirking. "After the insult you provided to me, I would never help you."
Razor snarled at Kaeya, his red eyes glowing with malice.
"You.. blue man... you are very bad man. Very, very bad!" he said angrily.
Kaeya snickered and said, "Says the wolf boy who can barely even speak English, yet alone discern right from wrong. Tell me, monster, how many people have you killed for your 'lupical?'"
Razor's face filled with sadness, and he turned away from you and Kaeya. He shook his head a couple times to clear it, then he turned back to Kaeya and snapped back at him.
"Do not... insult... lupical. They are family... they are warm, and smell good, and-"
"Is y/n your lupical now? Do you own her? Is she your concubine?" Kaeya interrupted. His expression had turned from an expression of playful dislike to pure, utter hate. And Razor was clearly feeling anxious due to all this aggression. You decided it was time for you to step in. Plus, the mere idea that you could be anyone's concubine, or anyone's personal property, irked you. So you stood up for yourself.
Except that your choice of words wasn't the best, to say the least.
"Don't you dare insinuate anything, you bastard!" you snarled at the cavalry captain. "I wouldn't even let this dirty creature get near me when I'm fully clothed! When I awoke to his body on top of mine, and his poisonous, warm breath in my face, I threw him off of me immediately in anger. Razor isn't even a human, nor is he a wolf. He's nothing! Why would I have sexual relations with nothing? How could I, in fact?"
Razor drew back, clearly hurt at your words, but pretending not to be. Instead, he asked a pretty good question.
"What is 'sexual relations?'"
You turned pale, and your eyes widened. You weren't used to defining this topic to anyone. Either they knew it, or they didn't. And, apparently, Razor didn't.
But Kaeya, the flirt, the insatiable bastard!
He knew all about sex. And he was glad to educate Razor.
"Well, you know how kids are made, right? Pups?" he started.
You started to choke on your own spit and cried out, "Kaeya, don't you dare! He's so innocent, look at him!"
Razor stuck his tongue out and tried to look like an innocent puppy. However, Kaeya didn't care, and he continued his education.
"Well, sex is basically how the fertilizing process starts."
"KAEYA, YOU TERRIBLE MAN!" you scream at the top of your lungs. "STOP POLLUTING THIS CHILD'S MIND!"
"Ah... Razor sees. How old... does female have to be... for pups?"
"Usually sixteen, in this part of the world. You're lucky. Y/n is sixteen. You can make pups with her."
You had enough of this joking about your age and what you could and couldn't do. With an angry snarl that rivaled even a wolf's, you leapt up to your feet and snapped, "Get the hell out of here, Kaeya! And come back with medical supplies, or I'll skin you alive next time I'm in Mondstadt!"
The cavalry captain laughed. He had gotten equal with you in insults. Now, he would leave you alone, and do what you wanted. He had stupid principles, but at least they were unchanging principles.
You felt his warm hands close over yours, and you debated whether to scream or smack him. Thankfully, he only said one short sentence, then he let your hands go.
"I'll have the supplies ready by first light. Can you do some of the medical stuff without them?"
You looked down at the wolf, who was lying unconscious due to his pain.
"I can get the chain off and clean up his skin and hair if he has any ticks or parasites on him. But to get that piece of metal out from under his stomach, I need painkillers, a good, sharp, clean scalpel, gauze, bandages, and about everything else needed for a surgery. If you don't have all those things, just bring what you have. I'll try to get the rest from Qiqi in Liyue."
"No!" Razor snapped, grabbing onto your waist and holding tight to you. "Lupical... cannot... leave me... not safe!"
You sighed and folded your hands over Razor's ones, grabbing onto them tightly.
"Let me go. I'm not leaving you," you said, lovingly but firmly.
He immediately let you go, responding to the tone of your voice mostly, but he kept his red eyes on you at all times. When you left the cave to say goodbye to Kaeya, he growled loudly, and rushed towards you, holding on tight to your arm, anchoring you to him with all the weight of his scrawny body.
You scoffed at this paranoia, but you managed to say goodbye to Kaeya with Razor grasping onto you still. As soon as the cavalry captain left, you threw Razor off of you forcefully, making him cry out in such a plaintive tone that you nearly ran over to his side and kissed him.
"Lupical hates Razor," he sniffed sadly "Razor... protect you... you hate him then?"
You reject the automatic response that almost comes out of you, and instead laugh and stalk back into the cave, sitting down on the sheepskin and turning away from the wolf boy, trying to make it evident without words that you were done talking.
After a time, Razor sat down next to you and started to rub against you, staring up into your eyes with his sad ones.
You sighed and ran your fingers through his hair again.
"I can't hate you. You're just too cute!" you said to him.
In response, he smiled and stuck his tongue out at you.
Yup. Definitely a keeper.
