When you went back to the cave, you saw that Barbara had made a boar stew for all of you. Your bowl was sitting on the ground, next to Razor, who was devouring his with vigor. Slowly, you approached him and sat down next to him. He glared at you, but didn't take any violent actions, just continued slurping down his stew.
To your surprise, the stew was very good. The smoky flavor of the boar contrasted with the flavor of the carrots, seasoned water, and sweetness of the sweet flowers that had been liberally sprinkled in. All in all, the flavors mixed well together, and it tasted impeccable.
"This is very good, Barbara," you told the idol.
She gave you a kind smile and a soft, "Thank you," in reply, then offered Razor some more, as he'd eaten his entire bowl up quite quickly. The wolf boy refused her offer, and instead picked up his claymore and headed outside to sit up on a small hill outside the cave and stare up into the sky. He looked a little sad, but you were afraid to approach him, thinking that he might hurt you if you got close to him. You never knew what he was thinking in that wolf brain of his.
Lisa noticed you looking at him and said, "That boy loves you, you know. No matter what he says, he still loves you."
Kaeya supported her by saying, "He can be a bit irrational at times, sometimes annoying. But never forget that you're his lupical, his family. He'll always love you, no matter what."
Barbara finished with, "So, if you're afraid to approach him, try it! He still is attracted to you, and one little spat won't change that."
Their words made you confident enough to go outside and approach Razor. You thanked them for their support before going out, and they all gave you huge smiles in response. They were such good friends!
"Hey, Razor! Mind if I sit next to you?" you asked him.
"Come. Sit," he replied, patting the ground next to him.
You sat down next to him and were filled with the sudden desire to stroke his hand, or squeeze it, or hold it, or show any signs of affection to him whatsoever. But this wasn't the time. You had to go slowly, to regain your friendship and trust with him first, before loving him. So, as much as you wanted to caress him, you needed to wait.
"You know that I'm sorry, right?" you asked, to begin the conversation.
"That's... wrong," Razor commented with a sniff.
"Why is it wrong for me to apologize?" you queried.
"Y/N... did nothing... wrong," he elaborated, trying his best to turn his sullen expression into a small smile. It backfired, because he ended up smiling too widely, and revealing his sharp, pointed teeth, that were more like a wolf's than a human. Embarrassed of his wolfish features, he shut his mouth tightly, and his expression turned into a sad frown instead.
"Yes, but now you're distant from me. So I must have done something wrong, right?"
"You did... nothing... wrong," Razor repeated firmly. "Razor is... just... stupid."
He hung his head, and if he was a wolf, his ears would be flopping downwards, and his tail would be unmoving on the ground. His eyes were filled with an indescribable amount of sadness, so much that just looking at them made your heart break and rupture. This poor boy. He must have been carrying so much weight on his chest that he couldn't share with you until now.
Now, you decided, was the time for affection. And a lot of it. But not by actions, like kisses and head pats. By comforting words. Usually, you lived by the philosophy of, "Actions speak louder than words." But, in this situation, words would cry out their true affections and meaning, and they would bridge the gap between Razor and you, and bond you together in a stronger bond than ever before.
"You're not stupid, Razor darling," you say, your tone firm even though the statement wasn't meant to be. "You're a very smart wolf boy."
"No!" he cried out. "Razor is... very not smart!"
"Why do you feel this way about yourself, baby? Come on, tell me, sweetheart."
You were using a lot of diminutive words- like baby, sweetheart, and darling- to describe Razor, and you weren't sure he even knew the meaning of them. But you'd say them anyway. The tone behind them would cheer him up enough, surely.
"Razor... break link with... with you... with best friend. Razor... not have... your love."
Tears were streaming down the wolf boy's face, and he made a very human move, burying his head in his hands to hide his weakness. Gently, you peeled his hands away from his face, and gave him dozens of little kisses. When you pulled away from him, you noticed that he looked very confused, but also very happy.
"You have my love, Razor. You'll always have my love, no matter what you say or do. You're too precious to ever lose something from me. So stop feeling so down, alright? You're a very beautiful, sweet, and smart boy, and I won't have you calling yourself all these terrible words. Do you understand?"
Razor looked into your eyes in awe, seemingly shocked that you could still love him after all the things he'd done. He didn't say anything, just continued to stare up at you.
"Do you understand what I just said?" you yelled at him.
He pulled away from you, looking confused once again.
"Why so loud?" he asked, his lips pursed in a pout. "Razor understand better... without loud."
What you got from that statement was that Razor didn't like the way you yelled at him. With a sigh, you apologized again, and said, "Sorry. I just wanted to make sure you were listening."
A big smile, like the one he had previously tried to hide, spread across Razor's face. This time, he didn't try to hide it, and let it show, sharp wolf teeth and all. His red eyes were no longer sad, but glowing with happiness. And he took your hand and, instead of licking it, tried to kiss it. He was feeling much better now.
"Let's go eat more!" you exclaimed, cheered up by the happiness of those you loved.
Razor nodded his head and ran full speed towards the cave, throwing himself in front of the soup bowl and saying, "More! More!"
Barbara laughed and refilled the wolf boy's bowl. She also refilled yours, although you didn't ask for it.
"A reward," she said, holding it out to you, "for making the love between Razor and you burn brighter."
Lisa and Kaeya cheered and clapped, and you felt warm inside.
Lisa, Kaeya, Razor, Barbara, and all my friends. You will always have my love.
A/N- A bit of a longer chapter today, because my motivation hit me like a truck lol. I also think this chapter is a bit better quality than the others, so that's good too. I have nothing much to say besides that lol... love you, darlings!
