Lightning flashed above him, followed by the grumbling of Thunder. He stared down at the waves of the sea as they tossed and turned powerfully.
And in the water, at just a glimpse, a portal appeared in his vision.
His Aunt Fern had told him about those portals in the water. It was rare for anyone to see it, rarer for anyone to reach it unless they could pinpoint it.
And he was one of the lucky trucks to be able to see it.
His Grammy had thought it unhealthy and had told him to stay far from the water during a storm. It didn't really work, with his Aunt Fern appearing every now and again in his life to show him the portals and the waves of in the water.
But that was before he heard the news. The news of his Aunt's suicide.
And that's when he learned what the portals in the water meant.
He learned what his aunt had been pointing out to him the whole time.
Despite what had happened, though, he still wanted to reach out.
Reach out for the portal in the waves.
Reach out to his Aunt, who was waiting for him on the other side of the waves.
Reach out to claim his freedom from the life he had ever so wanted to leave.
But there had always been a question hovering over his mind...
Will he able to do it?
Will he be able to jump?
Will he be able to be free?
