Chapter 14 Brother Like No Other

"Hey hot head! Got enough hair gel in that hair-do of your's?"

Kai rolled his eyes. He turned up the volume on his earbuds. He was standing in front of his open locker, stuffing books inside his bag.

"Hey! We're talking to you, punk!"

BAM!

Kai's locker was slammed shut by a taller kid. Him and his friends stared the fire master down. Kai glared at the group.

"What do you idiots want, now?" he asked while ripping out his earbuds.

"My buddies and I have been pretty sick with your attitude. You think you can just do whatever you want because you got fire powers?" Kai smirked at the leader.

"Can't I though? It's not like Master of Clay is really that great of a power, huh?" The tallest guy blushed before foaming at the mouth. He grabbed a hold of Kai's shirt collar and slammed him against the lockers.

Kai's gaze snapped down to his wrist, seeing the punk had slapped a Venge Stone bracelet on him. His eyes widened at the sight.

"Where the heck did you--"

"Not so tough now without your fire? Time for a pummeling," the punk said with a wide grin.

After a few minutes had past, a figure had turned down the hall and spotted the 8th graders cornering a younger student.

"Hey!" The older students turned their attention to spot a little Zane with shaking fists.

"Heh, beat it freak," one of the kids said until Zane formed ice in his palm, creating a giant ice covering for his fist.

"Let him go or else..." Zane muttered. The leader narrowed his gaze at the kid before dropping his guard. He walked past Kai and motioned his friends to follow.

"Come on," he grumbled while his two friends dropped the beaten up fire master. Kai fell to the ground with a loud thump that echoed throughout the hall. Zane rushed over to him to check the damage.

"Are you al--"

"I'm FINE!" Kai screamed. He glared at the blonde with his busted up lip. Zane blinked a few times, still carrying a worry filled frown.

"But you need medical atten--"

"Gah! Just leave me alone! I don't need your help!" Kai shouted again, shoving Zane away. The young android watched Kai storm off, blood still trickling from the kid.

Once Kai made it to the Nurse's Office, he found no adult inside. He let out a dramatic sigh, realizing that the nurse most likely went home already. The fiery kid then strolled over to the sink. He grabbed a few paper towels and soaked them under the water. Kai then gently dabbed them over his lip before wincing at the stinging pain. He strolled over to the mirror on the wall for a better look. He sneered at the sight of his face. His busted up lip, swelled eye, and scrapes and bruises from not only this fight but others he's gotten into. He balled his fists at the mess before sucking it up to try again with his lip.

"Is the nurse no longer here?" Kai whipped his head around to find the ice master standing in the doorway. Kai growled underneath his breath.

"Can't you take a hint? Get lost weirdo!" The fire master waited for the kid to insult back or walk away, but... he didn't. Instead, Zane walked further in, examining him. Kai cocked an eyebrow at the strange kid before he spoke again.
