Sierra sat Sophie into her high chair. "Hey baby girl," Sierra's mom said to Sophie reaching out to her to tickle her stomach. Sophie giggled then smiled at her dad. "Sierra, go tell Alex it's time to eat," Sierra's dad said. "Okay," Sierra said getting up from her chair. Sierra knocked on Alex's door, when she got no reply she cracked the door open. Alex hadn't heard the door open so Sierra opened the door a little more. "Alex, mom says it's time to eat," Sierra said. "Fine, now get out of my room," Alex said standing up and walking towards the door. He grabbed the door knob and slammed the door shut. Sierra turned on her heel and went downstairs. She wasn't going to force Alex to come eat, it would be quieter without him. Sierra sat herself down at the table and picked up her fork. She began to eat the chicken and macaroni and cheese that her mom had made for dinner. Her mom and dad both had been staring at her. She looked up. "Where's your brother?" Her mom asked. "I told him it was time to eat but he kept on playing his game," Sierra said shrugging her shoulders. "That's all that boy does is play video games, " Sierra's dad said getting up from the table. He went upstairs and a few minutes later came down carrying the Xbox with Alex right behind him. "Dad, give it back," Alex said in a whiny voice. "Sit down and eat your dinner that you mother made for you," His father ordered. Alex immediately say down and ate his dinner. "Kids, your father and I have been thinking that maybe we all need a break from everything. So we decided that since you guys have a 4 day weekend, we can go to Kalahari for the weekend!" Their mom said happily. "Seriously, that's the coolest thing ever!" Sierra said happily. "But that's not all, you each get to bring a friend," Their dad said. "Once you finish your dinner, go call a friend and ask them if they would like to go," Their mom said. Alex and Sierra both quickly finished their dinner.
Sierra sat on her bed and quickly dialed Bailey's number.
"Hey," Bailey said.
"Guess what," Sierra said.
"I don't know, what?" Bailey asked getting suspicious.
"My mom and dad just told me that we're going to Kalahari this weekend and they said I was allowed to being a friend. Do you wanna go?" Sierra asked Bailey.
"Of course I do, let me go make sure it's okay with my parents," Bailey said.
Sierra heard Bailey put the phone down It was a few minutes later that she got a response.
"They said I can go! They want to talk to your parents though," Bailey said.
"I'm so excited! Do they want to talk to them now?" Sierra asked.
"Yes because my dad has to go to work in a little bit," Bailey said.
"Okay, I'm gonna go give them the phone," Sierra said walking out of her room. She went into the kitchen where her parents were cleaning up dinner. "Mom, dad, Bailey's parents said she can go but they want to talk to you," Sierra said handing her mom the phone. Sierra's mom walked away from the sink. "Great, now I have to do the dishes," Sierra's dad said picking up a dirty plate off of the counter. Sierra walked away before he asked her to help. Sierra went back up to her room and grabbed a duffel bag out of her closet. She was just about to grab her shampoo and conditioner when her mother called for her. "Sierra, can you come here for a second?". "Sure mom, I'm coming," Sierra said going downstairs. Her mom was waiting for her at the bottom of the stairs. She had Sophie in her arms. "Bailey's parents said she can go so here's your phone back," her mom said handing her phone back to her, "what are you doing?". "I'm packing my clothes for this weekend," Sierra said. "Okay, but can you take Sophie upstairs with you?" "Sure," Sierra said taking Sophie from her mom. Sophie burst into giggles and with a huge smile on her face, Sierra went upstairs to pack. Sierra sat Sophie in the floor of her room and began to look for clothes. She grabbed pants, shirts, shorts, and put them into the bag. She went over to her drawer full of bathing suits and picked out a couple to take along. She put those in the duffel bag. She went to her bathroom and grabbed some shampoo, conditioner, body soap, tooth brush and tooth paste, and put those into the side pockets of the duffel bag. She grabbed a phone charger and some ear buds and placed those in the bag as well. She hadn't noticed that Sophie had crawled over to her bookshelves. Sierra mad sure to grab some perfume and some nail polish, just in case they went somewhere nice. She threw her sandals and some flip flops into the bag as well. Sierra was happy with what she had packed, she turned around and saw Sophie had taken almost every book off of the bottom shelf of the bookshelf. She walked over to Sophie and moved her away from the books. Sierra sat down and began to place the books were they went. Sophie had crawled back over to her and gotten into her lap. Sierra finished putting the books back into the shelf and crawled into bed with Sophie in her arms.
