All you could see was red. The fire blazing through the trees and the blood splattering from the battling cats. Firestar hurled himself at the leader of Bloodclan, Cripple. She bounced out of the way and crunched on Firestar's neck. Next thing you know, Firestar was lying in front of the cats of Starclan. As Bluestar gracefully strolled up to him, Firetar could see the outline of him growing bolder as he lost another life. Bluestar touched her nose to his; it was ice cold.

As Firestar awoke in the battle, the star on his forehead shined with blinding white light. He staggered up, with one less of his nine lives. His eyes darted everywhere, until they rested on Cripple. She was on top of the Great Rock in the middle of the four trees. Never before had he seen so much fury in one cats eyes. Cripple bunched up her muscles, and sprang down from the rock, claws unsheathed, teeth bared and glistening with crimson liquid as she slashed her sister so deep Firestar swear he saw bone. Cats were horrified, but they weren't looking their way, they were looking at the sky. It was eerily silent. Then, BOOM!!!! Lightning flashed and turned the sky white, it thundered in cats' ears, but what scared Firestar was a cracking noise.

"Look out!!!" The Shadowclan medicine cat, Littlecloud yowled. Firestar didn't see anything, except that one of the four trees was at a strange angle. Firestar's eyes trailed from the top leaves to the trunk at the bottom. It was cracked, and falling down fast. Cats were running in all directions, Firestar began to run too, but then he remembered something. "Wait, NO!!" But it was too late, dust was everywhere, blinding the Thunderclan leader. As soon as he could see once more, Firestar sprinted to the tree. He saw nothing, except for a lump lying at an awkward angle. As he got closer, Firestar realized it was a body, lying in the shadow of the Great Rock, with no stars shining on it.
