Chapter 35: Well Then...

Firestar, Tallstar, and Leopardstar sat atop the great rock. Shadowclan was just coming through to join the gathering. Blackpaw walked with the other apprentices to sit down.

"Shadowclan is a bit late today." Leopardstar said as Blackstar was climbing up the rock.

"At least we're here, now get on with the gathering." He grumbled.

"All is well in Riverclan. The river is full of fish and the number of Twolegs are decreasing thanks to Leaf-bare." Leopardstar announced.

"The winds on the moor are chilly, but that only makes us quicker." Tallstar mewed.

"We are still missing Blackpaw.-" Firestar was cut off, "We have Blackpaw, Firestar." Blackstar said. They all turned their heads to the black apprentice. He turned his head to the ground.

"Blackpaw! What are you doing in Shadowclan? Tonight you shall come back to Thunderclan, where you belong." Firestar shouted.

"No Firestar! I belong in Shadowclan now!" Blackpaw replied. Everyone gasped except for the Shadowclan apprentices.

"Yeah he does!" Rowanpaw chanted.

"Blackpaw, do as your leader says!" Firestar growled.

"But Blackstar is my leader!" Blackpaw growled back.

"It's his choice, Firestar." Blackstar said.

"Very well. Do as you choose, Blackpaw." Firestar finally gave in. The Thunderclan cats started shouting and snarling at Shadowclan.

"What were you thinking?!" Sootpaw screeched. Rainpaw lunged at Blackpaw and Sorrelpaw stuck her tongue out at him. Longtail hissed at his former apprentice. Oakfur, Blackpaw's new mentor, hissed back at Longtail. Meanwhile, clouds started to cover the moon.

"Enough!!!" Firestar shouted. The cats stopped fighting and noticed the clearing was engulfed in darkness. "This gathering is over!"
