*Ross pov**1 week later back at school*
I walked into the choir room for the first time in what seemed like forever. I saw Tony who had clearly skipped eighth period to just sit at the piano and think. I sat next to him and kissed his cheek. He hasn't been the same since the day his dad pushed him out the door for coming out. I felt like I was to blame. His mom seemed fine with the news, but then again she said she knew before we did. I decided to break the silence.
"You know you still have me. I'll never push you away. I meant it when I said that I'd always be here when you needed me." I said and he still didn't even speak. It was like he had completely shut everyone out. "Come on babe, say something...anything."
At that moment everyone else filed into the choir room and I lead Tony to a chair. Ryder and Josh sat on his left side and I sat on his right. Spencer walked in and steered clear of Tony sitting in the far right back corner. Then Mr. Schue walked in and headed to the whiteboard and scribbled the word 'Outcast'.
"Welcome back guys! We have a few weeks until regionals so let's get to it. I want you to find a song that reminds you of a time you felt outcast or alone." He said and Tony stood up still not talking and nodded at the band.
When your day is long
And the night, the night is yours alone
When you're sure you've had enough of this life
Well, hang on
Don't let yourself go
'Cause everybody cries
And everybody hurts, sometimes
Sometimes everything is wrong
Now it's time to sing along
When your day is night alone, hold on
When you feel like letting go, hold on
If you think you've had too much of this life
Well, hang on
'Cause everybody hurts
Take comfort in your friends
Everybody hurts
Don't throw your hand, oh no
Don't throw your hand
If you feel like you're alone
No, no, no, you're not alone
If you're on your own in this life
The days and nights are long
When you think you've had too much of this life
To hang on
Well, everybody hurts
Sometimes, everybody cries
Everybody hurts, sometimes
And everybody hurts, sometimes
So hold on
I watched as Tony wiped a tear from his eye. Everyone clapped and Mr. Schue leaned over from Tony's chair.
"What happened? He's never sang a song this dark before. It looked like he was trying to convince himself things are fine." Mr. Schue whispered and that's when Tony spoke.
"I, uh, came out to my parents last week. My mom was ok with it, but my dad..." his voice trembled and he took a deep breath, "my dad hates me and I know you guys are probably thinking that I want you to feel bad but I don't. I want to move past this and get on with my life."
