Roan

Echo and I were sparring in the thrown room to pass the time as Wanheda and the rest of Skaikru were making a plan for Praimfaya.

I twirled the sword in my hand and went to attack the royal guard who defended herself. She blocked the strike and pushed me back with her blade and kicked me to stop her sword at my neck.

"Nodotaim," I said and we went again. I was about to bring my sword high to strike but the bullet wound prevented me and I dropped my weapon. The doctor came and looked at my scar.

"The wound could have opened," Abby said. "You're not in a hurry to fight so why don't you rest?" "And when a fight comes I'll be weak," I replied. "Why are you still here?"

"I was ordered to keep you healthy and you seem like it," she stated. "I have to leave to go be chancellor." I watched her walk out and I eyed the guards to go on the other side of the door.

Facing Echo, I placed the sword in my non-dominant hand and we continued to spare. We went on for about thirty minutes until I grew tired and she took my sword to place it in its hold.

"You're hiding something from me," Echo spoke. "You haven't killed Wanheda to take her power and you seem fine about Skaikru taking over Polis. There's a problem." "Praimfaya," I answered, leaving her distraught. "They're making a way to save us all. And Echo... I won't kill my wife."

"You're wife?" she questioned. "You never got married by an elder or someone holy. She made herself queen and you were fine with it. She is a mass murderer-" "As if you aren't." "That's because- you're in love with her." I didn't respond to anything and wiped the sweat off my forehead.

"I should've known," she muttered. "You don't care what she does because you're blinded by love." "And what." "You need to stop it," she said and I looked at her. "She will use it to get away with anything and you'll be weak. You're not the first one who's gotten in the Commander's pants."

I was about to chastise her when the doors swung open and Ice Nation villagers came in. "Wanheda wan op Azgedan wocha en hon honon kom skrabon en az" (Wanheda killed the Azgedan chief and took prisoners from the spaceship in the snow) the new chieftain said. "Chit gaf in?" (What will you do?)

I glanced at Echo who tilted her head. "Nou stepnes" (nothing) I replied. "Heda nowe stepnes, jos haihefa kom Polis" (Commander doesn't want me to do anything, just lead Polis). "Leave."

The chief and other villagers glared at me as they were taken out. "The people will revolt against you. You were just the banished prince and now you're honoring the Commander? Your mother-" "Is dead," I finished. "She has nothing to say about my rule and neither do you. Go scout out Arkadia."

Luisa

"Cadogan, please!" Becca screamed. I could see my mother's hair blowing in the wind of the fire as she wore a sack over her body. The flames crept up her feet and she continued to scream.

"The serum will help us all! We will be immune to the radiation! Cadogan! The AI will save us all! Cadogan!!" Her voice raised as the fire continued scorched her body and somehow, I could feel it too. The fit she was throwing to be released became my fit and I was struggling to wake up.

"Ah," I murmured. The fire was blazing my skin the same way I thought the radiation would. "Ah!" I yelled and soon it was a sharp scream.

"Luisa!" the voice shouted at me. I shot up, looking at Bellamy who was still shaking me. "What's wrong?" he asked. I sniffled, trying to keep everything together. "Shit, Luisa," he snapped. "You don't have to play hard with me."
