I was aware that no one liked me, even the people who were close to me. I didn't care. They had to respect the Flame that was in me. Anyone who tried to remove it would be met by death. Besides, they didn't know the passphrase because I changed it.

"Where's Madi?" Gaia asked. "She was supposed to be here?" "I haven't seen her since the pits," Ethan answered. "I'll go find her." I allowed them to go search for her and Gaia faced me. "You might not have any but you hurt her feelings."

"She wanted to be treated like an adult," I said. "She'll learn from it. Commanders are always being shown hate." I moved away from her and went to the ground where the rover was being backed up to be loaded with guns.

I was given an assault rifle and placed my sword in its hold along with other knives. I found Ethan holding Madi by the arm and she was brought to me. "Let her go, she's not a prisoner." I looked down at her.

"You're not weak," I said. "You think like me which is strong. Unlike me, your kindness will get you somewhere. As of now, I don't have anyone but you do. Yu pri tiya en ouya" (you're beautiful on the inside and out." I saw her smile and handed her a sword.

"We're taking the long way to the valley and I need a tracker," I said. "I'll take you," she said. "You need to lead the rest of them," I added. To the clan, I shouted, "Let's go!"

We had crossed the safer side of the sandy terrain and came across the rocky gouge. It reminded me of Ice Nation wanting to march on Arkadia and this time, we were the ones marching.

"We can still turn back," Bellamy came to say. "The farm's gone," I replied. "There must be a way to bring it back and we don't have to do this," he said and I glared at him. I shook my head, facing the sun, and felt his presence disappear.

Some of the clan built a campsite, knowing we couldn't return to the bunker, and the rest of us continued to walk. I felt a large shift in the wind and I held up a fist for us to stop moving. I looked around and when bullets fired at the front, everyone diverted to hide behind boulders.

"They must've found the drive," I said into the walkie. I peered over the rock to see that all of the nightbloods were dead. Ethan was dead. I placed my gun overhead and shot at the dropship.

"Commander," Madi called out. She was the last one beside me. I could see the horror in her eyes from the effects of war and I told her to stay down. The power source they had was being shot from a snip spot in the trees.

I tried to shoot at them but they blew in my direction, causing me to duck and cover my ears. "We need to go back!" Bellamy yelled. "Go to the rover," I told Madi. I made a clear path for her to run and shot a prisoner.

"Come on!" Roan shouted. I saw the other people still fighting and I sprinted into the vehicle. "Fall back!" I screamed as we drove back. The rover was packed with bleeding people and for the first time, blood scared me.

We returned to the campsite where Jackson and Clarke took in the wounded people. People were crying from their pain and I tried to calm them down. I spotted the spy and rushed towards her and entered a tent.

"What's going on?" I asked. "Kane got through to Diyoza but McCreary took over and now they're the ones attacking," she explained. "Raven and everyone else in the valley has escaped and trying to help out on the other side."
