I'm not particularly proud of this chapter. To be honest, it's mostly a transitional chapter, but please read and vote still.
It had been a long time since Cole had feared Dragons, but staring up at the fearsome form of the Mother of all Dragons made his knees grow weak. She was a truly magnificent, awe-inspiring force of nature.
Looking down at the Dragon Hunters, it was clear that they held this sentiment as well. And unfortunately for them, they definitely had a reason to fear the great Dragon Mother while she had reason to rain down terror on them all.
Firstbourne's golden eyes were narrowed into furious slits as her gaze swept over the Dragon killers. She despised them almost as much as the Oni, and smoke curled from her nostrils as she contemplated roasting them all in that moment. Not a single one of their hearts were untainted by malice or fear.
Finally, she focused in on the only pure-hearted ones in the Realm. The people scattered when a blaze of white flames burst from her mouth and enveloped Ultra Dragon and any other of her imprisoned children.
The Ninja screamed in terror before they realized the flames had not harmed their dear Dragon friend. In fact, in addition to melting the Vengestone chains, Firstbourne's Fire seemed to rejuvenate him. For the first time since they had first set eyes on him, he lifted his four heads and roared with vigor. His steps were sure as he stepped from the flames, and though his frame was still bony, his wounds and scars were faded.
Firstbourne, as gently as possible for a creature of her stature, freed the Elementals from their chains. No Hunters had made a move to stop her. They barely dared to breath, still frozen in absolute fear. She lifted her regal head and hissed down at the completely rotten mortal that had harmed the Son of the First Spinjitzu Master, "You are a fool for thinking you could bring such destruction without consequences."
The coward was trembling badly as Firstbourne lifted a claw and flicked him away from Wu. She bent her head and gave a gentle huff that ruffle the boy's hair. He laughed and suddenly found the pain his finger had vanished. He looked at the Dragon Mother in awe while she looked back with fondness. She wasn't ashamed to admit that she most certainly did have favorites.
Iron Baron's eyes were furious as he stuttered out to his Hunters and pointed up at the towering Dragon, "G-get her!"
Like sensible people who valued their measly, miserable lives, they didn't move a muscle and provoke the Dragon Mother. Some even threw down their weapons to show that they didn't mean harm at all.
Firstbourne gathered the Elementals in her claws, ignoring the cruel mortals surrounding them. As if they could pose a threat to her, armed or not. However, she was very aware of the Oni lurking in the crowd. They hadn't made a move yet or revealed themselves, and she didn't want to give them the opportunity to attack.
She glared at the hybrid Oni she had left chained on the pole. She remembered that one well, glancing down at the sword made from her own bone. No love was lost between the two.
Small shouts of protest emerged from the Elementals when the Mother of all Dragons took to the air with her freed spawn following after her.
The Ninja were completely bamboozled. One moment they were about to be tortured, the next, they were caught up in the claws of Firstbourne. What?! Why couldn't she had swooped in to help them a whole lot sooner?! And what about Faith?!
As Firstbourne flew away into the distance, Faith suddenly felt herself breath easier again once out of her imposing presence. Well, now they would probably finally find out the true location of the Dragon Armor. Ugh, that Son of the First Spinjitzu Master! That little liar! For a moment, hatred for the little imp burned inside her before cold hollow resignation took hold. Tales of heroes and hope were nothing but myths made up for gullible babies.
