4 am, always a great time to be awake. I had just gotten home and I was wondering if Alix had opened my gift yet.
I hoped she'd remember what the glass bird meant, I hoped she'd call me, ask if I wanted to watch Avengers.
I hadn't watched it since she left, I couldn't bear to say 'the glow stick of destiny' without her.
I remember one night when we were 13 we were running around my yard in the dark because Alix was staying over for a sleepover.
We had glow sticks and they were our 'glow sticks of destiny', me and Alix would argue over who got to be Tony because Tony won so neither of us ever wanted to be Loki.
Except one night, that night, I would never forget. That night Alix had lost her mother so she had been dropped off at my house to watch movies and take her mind off it.
Also so her dad could have some alone time, Jalil was in London at the time. We were playing 'glow stick of destiny' when it happened.
"I'll be Loki", she had said. I had turned to her in utter shock. She never willingly wanted to be Loki, it was that simple.
Her ocean blue eyes were glossed over with tears, her head turned to the side, looking out into the sunset. I walked up next to her, the grass under my bare feet slightly wet, making my feet cold.
"Alix?", I had asked, worry evident in my voice. She looked up at me, her face emotionless and blank.
I had pulled her into a hug, I remembered her hugging back, lightly sobbing into my shoulder. I had moved one of my hand to the back of her head, holding her close.
"Alix Kubdel, your going to get through this", I had said, pulling her back. She looked up at me sniffling back tears.
"I'm not like you Kim", she had said. Reminding me of when my mother passed. But that only filled me with passion to make her feel better.
"Your not like me Alix, never have been, never will be, you want to know why?", I asked, smirking lightly.
"Why?", she sniffled.
"Because you've always been better than me, stronger, faster, and smarter, you Alix Kubdel are perfect, and I wouldn't have you any other way", I finished smiling at her.
Alix smiled back and I saw the familiar spark in her eyes I saw often when we were daring each other. "I'm going to be Tony!", she had proposed and I agreed.
So I played Loki once again.
I snapped back to reality realizing I'd said the same thing to her less than an hour ago, or maybe it was 5000 years ago? Doesn't matter, what does matter, is she remembered me saying that.
That was six years ago, and she'd remembered. "They're gone", rang through my mind. She's going to need me, I thought.
I climbed out of bed and grabbed a few bottles off my nightstand. I threw them all away and smashed the last one, letting the chunks of glass fall into the garbage can.
I stared at them for a moment and slammed the can shut turning away from my past. I then grabbed my phone and dialed Marinette's number.
"Hey, Mari? I think I'm ready for that help you offered", I spoke into the phone. I heard Marinette jump out of bed from the other side of the phone and I chuckled.
"I'm on my way!", she exclaimed, hanging up. I sighed and tidied my room a little bit before going to make two cups of coffee since apparently I wasn't getting any sleep.
I passed a mirror I had hung in my hallway and smiled at myself. For the first time in a long time I felt good about myself, I felt like everything was going to be ok.

I raced into the bakery at 4 am, my dad had just woken up and hadn't even started to mix up the croissants. "Marinette! What are you doing up?", he asked, surprised I was up sooner than 10.
"You remember Kim don't you papa?", I asked. He nodded and gestured for me to continue. "He just called and said he wanted my help to get over his addiction", I finished.
I grabbed two of the day old croissants and raced out the door. "Bye papa!", I yelled, then burst out the door, running down the streets. I ran around the corners, almost running into all the early birds.
I actually did knock someone over. "Luka! I'm so sorry!", I exclaimed. I reached my hand out for the musician and pulled him up.
Me and Luka had dated for a short time but now Luka and Kagami were engaged, just like me and Adrien. "No worries Marinette", Luka smiled.
"What are you doing up and around so early?", I asked. "I'm going to pick up breakfast for me and Kagami, we're meeting at the Eiffel Tower in a half hour to watch the sunset", Luka smiled.
He shifted from foot to foot clearly impatient to go. "That sounds fun! Maybe the four of us can do that some time! But I won't keep you from your date, have a good time!", I ran past.
I looked back to wave and Luka did the same before shoving his hands in his pockets. I skidded to a stop in front of Kim's door.
The golden sunlight starting to tint the windows gold. I smiled at the birds chirping overhead and the squirrels collecting nuts by a tree.
Then I knocked on the door, a little nervous about what I'd find in the other side.
