Chapter 53

I stretched my arms above my head and shut my laptop as my essays were done. Since I can't go to school pregnant, I switched to online classes which is pretty convenient. In that way, I can still continue to study even when I have a baby now.

"We're hungry again, aren't we? Don't worry, daddy's coming home any minute" I murmured as the baby started to move again "Sorry about stressing you out from my classes. But mommy has to take them or else I won't graduate and will have to retain"

I sighed and walked over to the kitchen where I usually feed Kirby. "Kirby, baby come eat" I called out to our goldie. When Jin's not around, she always lays beside me and follow me wherever I go. I guess she's concerned about me too. 

She perked her head up and ran towards the door, I guess Jin's home.

"Kirby, you missed me that much?" He exclaimed "Hi, Junghee. I bought some snacks by the convenience store. You said you've been craving banana milk so I got some"

"Thank you Jinnie" I replied 

"Also, I bought chicken" He said as I followed him towards the kitchen "Let's have dinner, I bet our baby's hungry"

"How was work today?" I asked as I sat down 

"The usual" He replied "But my patient is getting better each day. How about you? How's your classes?"

"Draining. I sat down for a few hours and my back is killing me" I replied "I kept getting hungry and our baby girl here has been craving orange juice, bananas, and now, banana milk"

"Do you want me to give you a massage before bedtime? I'm sure it'll help with the pain"

"Yes please" I whined "Everything's so sore. It's kind of annoying now"

"Don't worry, it'll be over soon" Jin said "eat up, I know you're hungry"

I. Can't. Sleep.

It's 3 AM and I can't sleep.

Welp now that I'm wide awake, might as well do something, right? 

I slid my feet off the bed so I could support the weight on my tummy and looked back at Jin who was peacefully sleeping. Hugging a pillow underneath the white comforter.

 I stood up and started to look for things I could do, then I remembered I have to pack all the essentials to bring with me to the hospital. The feeling of giving birth still worries me somehow since I don't really know what's coming. 

I prepared three bags, two for baby Hyejin and one for me. As I was done packing, I stretched my back and sighed, looking at the time. 

"six AM huh?" I mumbled. I looked at Jin and decided to make breakfast for the both of us.

I turned on the TV while I was heating up the pan so I can fry some eggs. I hummed along to the tune inside my head and started to pour a bit of oil on the pan. 

I picked up two eggs from the fridge and went back to the cooking area. As I was about to crack an egg onto the pan, I dropped it on the floor and made a mess.

I sighed and clicked my tongue on the roof of my mouth as I looked at the yolk running out of the shell.

"Now I have to clean this all up. What a bummer"

As I was about to pick the cracked shells up, I felt a cramp on my stomach and immediately fell down on my knees. Blood. I felt something running down my legs and swiped it to see what it was, and it was blood. 

I gasped in shock and froze before screaming out for Jin.

"SEOKJIN" I screamed repeatedly as the cramps were getting worse every second. Every time I called out for him, my breathing started to get heavy. 

"JUNGHEE?! WHAT'S-" His eyes widened as he saw me. "Let's go to the hospital right now" He said before carrying me in his arms. 

"Hang on there Junghee...We'll be there in a minute" 

My vision started to get blurry as I was groaning in pain. 

I don't think I can do this.

It hurts so much. It's like I'm being stabbed repeatedly throughout my body. It hurts. I don't know how much pain I can take until I pass out. 

"Junghee, stay with me. Please stay with me" 

"Seok..jin-ah...It hurts so much" 

"You're gonna be alright Junghee...We're almost there" 

The next thing I knew, I was being rushed towards the emergency room with Jin holding my hand. "You're going to be fine Junghee...It's okay...It's alright"

Am I going to die?

Is Hyejin going to be alright?

Will she survive?

"C'mon Junghee, you have to push" The doctor said as she looked up at me "I can see her head. Only a few more pushes Junghee"

I held Jin's hand tightly and felt tears run down my face as I pushed our baby out.

Damn, this is really hard.

"The head's out Junghee! Just one more push!"

I exclaimed as I did one more push before seeing the nurses take the baby in their hands. But...

Why isn't there crying?

"Jin...?" I mumbled "Aren't babies supposed to cry?"

"Why isn't our baby crying?"

"Seokjin-ah...why isn't she...crying..?" I said before feeling drowsy and completely blacking out.
