Chapter 40 (Christmas Update)

Jin and I stopped at a buffet and decided to eat a lot. We haven't had breakfast AND lunch, we almost heard each other's stomachs grumbling.

"Slow down, you'll get a tummy ache" Jin said as I was chowing down on my food. 

"I can't, I'm really hungry" I replied 

He just chuckled and shook his head "Well, just make sure you don't choke then"

"That's what she said..." I mumbled 

"Yah" He lightly kicked my foot under the table and chuckled "Eat your food"

"Okay Mister, no need to scold me like a kid"

"Woaahhh" I stared in awe at the isle full of Christmas decorations. "I'm surprised they still have this many decorations. They usually sell out quickly"

"I know" Jin replied "What should we get first then?"

"ofcourse, a tree" I said as he pushed the cart infront of me. "but how big though? Should we get one that's as tall as our stairs?"

"I think it would look nice. But it'll take a lot of time to decorate it, will that be okay?"

"I love decorating! Let's get that tree over there!" I said before we called for assistance. After we got the tree, we started getting as many decorations as we can and ended up filling two pushcarts. 

As Jin was looking for other decorations, I came across a small Christmas themed onesie for babies. I smiled as I realized how small and cute it was.

"Junghee, look" Jin said as he held up a Santa costume for dogs. "Should we get one for Kirby?"

I laughed and walked over to him "I think we should! This'll look cute on her"

"Oh, and here" He said as he placed something on my head. I touched it and realized it was a reindeer headband. 

"It looks cute on you. I should get one too" He smiled and grabbed one for him. 

"Oh wait...I forgot we actually need to go grocery shopping. We're almost out of food and we're having a party tomorrow"

"Oh yeah" Jin laughed "Well then, let's buy some stuff today and then we can order meat from a friend of mine at the market tomorrow so the meat's fresh"

I nodded as we proceeded to the counter and paid for the things we brought. As we walked out of the store, I noticed white stuff on the ground and some on my hand. 

"hey..." I said "Jin, it's snowing!" 

Jin looked up and hummed in response. "No wonder why it's cold today"

"Ahhhh I can really feel the Christmas spirit now" I laughed 

"You were always excited for Christmas, Junghee" Jin chuckled as we both filled the car up with bags. 

"Who wouldn't be? Aren't you excited?" I asked him

"Ofcourse I am, it's our first Christmas as a married couple afterall" He smiled "and with Kirby"

"C'mon, let's get going so we can decorate" He added and ruffled my hair.

When we got home, I immediately went over to the side of the stairs to prop the artificial tree that we bought. We decided to get a white Christmas tree and a lot of red and silver colored ornaments. 

Jin took care of propping the upper part of the tree while I started to hang the ornaments on the little branches. He later helped with decorating the walls and placing other Christmas decorations on the tables, the shelves, and the doors. 

After hours of decorating, I plopped down on the couch and sighed. "It looks great" I nodded to myself. 

"Here" Jin said as he placed a cup of water on the coffee table. "Drink up"

He sat beside me as he chugged on his glass of water. "It's not done yet"

"What do you mean?" I asked as I looked at him. 

He smiled before he held out a small remote and pushed a button. 

"Woahhh" I said in awe as I looked at the walls, the stair case and the Christmas tree glowing with pretty light yellow lights. "It's really prettyyyy"

"I know, and these are inexpensive too. I'm impressed. But I wonder how long it'll take for these lights to burn the house down?"

"Jin" I looked at him and laughed "But it did make the whole house look pretty darn good"

"We did well" Jin said and placed a kiss on my cheek. "Now, help me with the groceries"

Today is the day before Christmas and Jin & I were preparing for tonight's Christmas celebration with our families. Mom said they'll be bringing pastries while Jin's mom said she'll be bringing boxes of wine. So Jin decided he'll be cooking steak and pasta for all of us. 

"Come help me with this" Jin said as he handed me a pack of pasta "Wait for the water to boil, and when it boils, break the pasta in half and place it inside" I nodded and stood beside him. He was cooking the steak and the mashed potatoes while I'm here, just waiting for the water to boil. 

The salad and the mashed potatoes were already done and the water came to a boil. I did what I was told before we heard the door bell ring. It'll take a while for the pasta to cook so I walked towards the door and opened it. 

I was greeted by Jin's mom with a smile. She was holding three boxes of wine when she hugged me. I offered to help her while my parents came to give me a hug.

"You guys decorated the house yourselves?" Jin's mom looked around with a huge grin on her face. "Jin won't even decorate our house" 

"Hi mom" Jin said as she hugged him while he was still finishing up the carbonara. "Hyung isn't going to celebrate Christmas with us again, huh?"

His mom laughed "He and his wife loves to travel a lot during the holidays. You know them" 

Jin shook his head and laughed "ofcourse. Where are they headed to this time?"

"Hawaii" She wriggled her eyebrows before sitting down by the dining table. 

"Oooh it smells so good in here" Dad said before the rest of them sat down to chitchat some more. I placed the bowl of carbonara on the table as Jin placed one by one, our plates of steaks infront of us. 

Jinn took his apron off and proceeded to join us. After a short prayer of thanks, we all chowed down on our food and talked about a lot of things. It's just funny that we see each other often yet we never run out of stories to tell.  

It's fun to see everybody having fun. 

Soon after, dad raised his wine glass and chuckled. "To a forever healthy and loving family"

We all raised our glasses and smiled. Jin looked at me, his eyes radiating a soft warm stare. 

"To a forever healthy and loving family" we both repeated dad's words before we chuckled. 

"I love you" He mouthed as he slid his arm around my waist and kissed my temple.

"I love you too" I smiled as I looked back into his eyes. 

"Merry Christmas!" We all cheered
