We walk away from Maggie and I try to gauge Beckett's mood. I could tell he was anxious the whole time and I wish I knew why. I thought he was cool now that I told him he's not over stepping, but as soon as Preston showed up he was even more tense then before.

Suddenly he freezes and I lift a brow as I bump into his back.

"what the fuck?"

I look up and he's staring at Derek whose staring at us.

"shit"

I cringe.

"it's fine I'll tell him it's my.."

Beckett shushes me and walks faster to Derek. I look down and my eyes widen because I still have Beckett's wallet in my hand and that won't look good. I quickly reach behind him as we walk and slide his wallet down his back pocket. He jumps slightly, but composes himself and nods at Derek.

"anyone else with you?"

Derek lifts a brow "no.."

I watch him intensely worried he'll say something or make Beckett worry even more.

Beckett sighs.

"Jasper was meeting his sister and his niece"

Derek nods slowly.

"I know, he talked about it. I'm surprised you allowed it"

Beckett makes a face.

"I was supervising...I'd rather make sure he doesn't break anymore rules then have him go off on his own"

Derek chuckles.

"All good I get it, let's just tell everyone you guys helped me carry coolers"

Beckett nods and we follow Derek over to his truck. I'm happy to see Beckett has calmed down and I nod.

"Nice truck man"

Derek grins.

"thanks she's pretty great"

I smirk.

"I want to go bigger with mine, but I might not I like where she's at"

This makes him chuckle.

"yeah bigger isn't always better this things a bitch on gas"

I laugh nodding along.

"I imagine"

We start taking out the coolers and each carry a cooler back to the beach lining them up.

Brody looks up.

"what took you so long?"

Derek shrugs.

"they stopped to help me unlike someone who didn't want too"

Brody shrugs leaning back in his chair.

"I'm comfortable"

Derek shakes  and rolls his eyes while Beth smiles at Beckett.

"that's so nice Beckett"

I roll my eyes dropping down into my chair from earlier and cross my arms. Watching as Beckett nods.

"thanks Beth"

He sits down as well but no sooner does he Derek shakes his head looking around at the group of us.

"no! everyone up, we're getting in the water or playing some volleyball we're not wasting the day sitting"

Brody groans.
