I left Beckett's room and walked to the front doors of the school to meet Freddie reluctantly. If it hasn't become abundantly clear behaving isn't my strong suite and Freddie likes to poke my buttons.

"Hey Jasper"

I'm surprised when he greets me nicely, but only glare at him.

"Let's go"

He doesn't argue with me or resist my demand. He simply walks towards the door and waits for me to follow.

Maggie is parked at the back of the parking lot and Preston is parked beside her. I can already see Harper playing in the grass and Preston nods at me.

Maggie looks at Freddie and I as we get closer lifting a brow.

"New friend?"

I grunt.

"Yeah right"

She looks to Freddie ignoring me.

"Who are you?"

Freddie glances at me as if I'll bite his head off for talking to her, I might if he says the wrong thing.

"I'm a mentor here at Balton's"

Maggie's eyes widen landing back on me and Preston scrunches up his face.

"What the fuck? They get rid of Beck?"

I roll my eyes.

"No you idiots, Beckett has a meeting"

Before anyone else can say anything I nod towards Maggie's car.

"We fixing this bitch or what?"

She sighs, but pats that hood.

"Sure if you can tell me what's wrong with her"

I roll my eyes and walk away from Freddie. I hope he gets the message and stays where he is, out of my way.

"Well start her up"

Preston walks beside me and nods.

"Pretty sure it's her transmission"

Maggie yells at Harper to stay on the grass and not move before getting in the car and starting it. I move over to listen and she explains to me the sound, pointing it out when she hears it.

I grunt thinking Preston's right and it's her transmission that's shot, but I only grunt telling her to get up so I can feel it for myself.

I drive around the parking lot listening to the sounds her car makes before I park back next to Preston's car and get out shaking my head.

"What the fuck did you do to that thing Maggie? It sounds like shit"

She winces and I narrow my eyes.

"I let Felix borrow it?"

Preston shakes his head.

"Yikes"

I glare.

"Why the hell would you do that?! You know what happens anytime he borrows a car"

Maggie sighs.

"He said he needed to go get groceries"

I scoff shaking my head.

"And did he come back with any?"

Maggie bites her lip and turns away mumbling the answer we all know.

"No"

I shake my head.
