Chapter 18 Auntie Katelyn's Play

Y/n's POV

I was watching tv with mama and Zane. Zane was complaining about the show and the people in it, while I sat next to mama on the couch. I heard a door open upstairs and looked up to see Jeffory coming out from auntie Katelyn's room. He walked down the stairs, stopping to say hi to mama before looking at Zane. "Zane." Jeffory said. 

"Jeffory." Zane said. 

"Aphmau, can I talk to you for a second?" Jeffory asked.

"Yeah sure." Mama said. They went to the kitchen to talk. I looked at Zane, who wasn't paying attention. I snuck to the kitchen, hiding behind a wall. "Katelyn was looking at taking classes for theater but she's not wanting to do it because she's embarrassed. I was wondering if maybe you could inspire her somehow." Jeffory said. 

"I don't know, Jeffory." Mama said.

"I'll buy you all the Olive Garden you want." Jeffory said. Once I heard about Olive Garden, I peeked around the corner, worried mama would not take the deal. "It looks like someone else wants some Olive Garden." Jeffory said, pointing towards me. Mama turned to see me before sighing. "Is something wrong with her?" Jeffory asked.

"No, I've only told her about Olive Garden and now she really wants to try it." Mama said. My tail was wagging back and forth as I looked at them. "Okay, so long as it's not a date." Mama said.

"It won't be. I'll invite Abby and you can bring Y/n." Jeffory said. Mama nodded before saying goodbye to Jeffory. Mama walked back to the couch, lifting me onto her lap. She told Zane about what Jeffory asked her to do. Auntie Katelyn came down the stairs to see what we were doing. "Hey Katelyn, Zane here was going to sponsor the neighborhood play." Mama said. Auntie Katelyn looked at us, almost happy about it. "What play were you thinking about doing?" Auntie Katelyn asked. 

"We don't know yet, but I'm sure you aren't super interested in it." Mama said.

"Do you need help? I took a theatre class in high school." Auntie Katelyn said.

"Alright what can you do?" Mama asked.

"I can direct if you want me too." Auntie Katelyn said.

"Aren't I..." Zane started before being punched by mama. "That sounds perfect," Mama said, "what do you have in mind for a play?" 

"I know it's a little cliche, but I was thinking about Romeo and Juliet." Auntie Katelyn said.

"That sounds amazing. Go get everything ready, while Zane and I talk." Mama said.

"You bet we do." Zane yelled. I covered my ears after he yelled since I was so close to him. Katelyn cheered as she ran up to her room, super happy abouut being able to direct a play. "There's never been a neighborhood play." Zane said. I uncovered my ears hoping that he wasn't yelling anymore. "Even if I gave you my limited edition little ponies?" Mama said. 

"The ones with the matching tiaras and hairbrushes?" Zane asked. 

"Yup and they're in mint condition." Mama said. Zane thought about it for a minute before agreeing. "Alright I'll go get the community center reserved for the play." Zane said getting up and leaving. Mama set me on the couch before going upstairs to talking with auntie Katelyn about the play. After a few minutes of them talking mama came back down with my jacket. "Alright, Katelyn needs our help finding people to audition." Mama said. I nodded and put my jacket on, following her out the door. We walked over to the guy's house across the street, I played in the snow while mama talked with the guys. After that we headed to papa's house and invited him to help us. "Sure I'll come help you guys." Papa said. He grabbed a few things before closing his door. He picked me up and set me on his shoulders. "Ready to go?" Papa asked looking up at me. I nodded. We walked around the neighborhood asking everyone who answered their door if they'd be willing to audition.

After a while of walking around we headed to the place where the play was going to happen. "Hey Katelyn." Mama said walking onto the stage. I ducked under the doorway was papa walked onto the stage. "Aphmau, did anyone else want to audition?" Auntie Katelyn asked. 

"No, I'm sorry Katelyn." Mama said. Auntie Katelyn looked sad about the play not working. "Well then, I'm sorry to disappoint you and Zane, Aphmau. I'm just as disappointed as you." Auntie Katelyn said. Papa set me down on the ground. "I'll be Juliet." Mama said. Auntie Katelyn looked at mama excited. "Really?" She asked.

"Yes." Mama said. 

"Now we need to find someone to play Romeo." Auntie Katelyn said.

"I'll do it." Papa said.

"Really papa?" I asked.

"Sure." Papa said. I smiled and hugged him. The guys started to ask about the auditions before auntie Katelyn came over to me. "I need a little helper as a director, do you want to help me?" Auntie Katelyn asked. I nodded. "Good, let's go get a new play started." Auntie Katelyn said.
