Curled up with Jenna, her warm soft body did nothing to relax the storm brewing inside my head. I hadn't slept a wink since I climbed into her bed. The conversation with Al wouldn't budge, no matter how hard I tried to shift it.

Feeling restless, I placed a light kiss on her shoulder feeling the loss of her heat as I eased away. I froze as she mumbled something but didn't wake up.

My chest tightened as I listened to her soft, even breaths for a few seconds. Jenna was the most beautiful woman I'd ever known, and I knew there would be no one else for me, or that I could love more. She owned me.

Sliding out of bed, careful not to wake her, I slipped into my jeans and headed to the bathroom.

Twenty minutes later I was sitting in Jenna's kitchen finishing my first mug of coffee. Lost in thought, I never heard her come downstairs.

"Hey," she said.

I turned to see her standing close by with her arms wrapped around herself. "Hey." I flicked my head, beckoning her as I pushed my chair out, patting my lap. "There's a chair right here."

"I have lots of good chairs."

"Yeah, but none as comfy as me." She rolled her eyes playfully, but sat down anyway as my hands ran around her waist, pulling her closer. "Did I wake you?"

"No," she replied in a whisper, burying her head in my neck. "I missed you."

"I missed you too."

"Everything okay with the baby?"

"Uh-huh, yeah, but we need to talk about him."

She pulled away, twisting her head to study my face. "Okay, but I need coffee first."

Settled with her coffee and me on my second cup, Jenna was sitting on the chair next to me. I reached for her hand. "Are you sure you don't want to sit back here?"

"As comfy as you are, I think I'm gonna need my chair." She took a sip of her drink. "You make amazing coffee."

I bit back a smile. "One of my talents."

"One of many!"

She gifted me one of her heart-stopping smiles and I almost forgot we needed to talk - taking her back upstairs seemed the better option.

"You needed to tell me something?" She put her cup down.

Her playfulness vanished. "Yeah. When I got to the hospital, they rushed me inside just as she was about to give birth." I shook my head. "I honestly don't know how women do it. It's amazing but looks so goddamn painful."

Jenna's face paled. Shit, had I said the wrong thing?

"Y-you saw the baby being born?" her voice elevated.
