It had been a few weeks since Loki had arrived, and we seemed to be getting along pretty well. Granted we were both very quiet, but he started to learn sign language slowly. Thor would also try to join in on our lessons, which seemed to make Loki protest against verbally.
It was fun to watch the two interact, even if I couldnt hear their conversation. I managed to pick up some words by reading their lips, which was usually 'Brother' and 'Dont stab me' from Thor. Loki's were usually 'Oaf' and 'Why shouldn't I?' in response to the stabbing comment. Even if it was slightly concerning, I could see the playful expression on Thor's face, so I knew it was fine.
When one of the two would get bored or frustrated, Thor would write down stories about Loki, who was much more likely to actually stab him then.
Sometimes the rest of the group would come over and chat, but since Thor was technically supposed to baby sit Loki, and I was still in 'recovery', we were the only three in the tower basically all the time.
Loki had most of his magic restraints removed, now being able to do more things than just summon his stuff from what I like to call his 'dimensional pocket'
One of the first things he did when he got his powers back was shift into a girl, streching as the others observed her.
Tony was definitely taken aback, but I didnt mind. She seemed rather pleased to hear that being gender fluid was a concept on Earth as well, and that it was being accepted, well, atleast in the process of it. It was a strange talk to explain how people used religion to form a reason again being who people thought they actually are. Thor also explained how Loki wasnt allowed to be a girl when he felt like it suit her more, due to being a prince. Although it was allowed between less prestigious individuals, since their society did have a more 'male lead' system, similar to on Earth.
And even when she made her female form smaller than their male form, she was taller than me, not that I minded. But it sure did clear up as to how she was so good at braiding hair- She had braided a kid's hair once when Thor found her wandering the lobby, and Tony was looking into finding her parents. Loki was also just suprisingly good with kids.
One day when the whole team was out, including Thor, Loki and I were both reading in the living room, Loki having been reading some magic books from 'Dr.Strange'
Loki, who was in his male form again, stood up and walked over to me [Give me your hand] I think for a moment before nodding, holding my hand out.
He hesitates for a moment before grabbing it, and he keeps his eyes locked with mine
"Can you hear me now?" I hear a voice say, making me jump, pulling my hand back
'How did you do that?' I write down quickly
I see a smile cross his face, and he holds out his hand again, waiting for me to grab it. I set my hand down slowly, when I hear his voice again "Its telepathy. I can only do it when im in direct contact with you though." the voice said
I nod slightly, looking up at him, who was still smiling a bit. He dropped it as soon as he noticed me looking, and I pulled my hand away to sign to him [Is that what your actual voice sounds like?]
He nods, grabbing a drink before walking off, trying to be casual about what just happened. Maybe it was something 'normal' on Asgard.
I quickly went to grab the back of his shirt, trying to force my voice out 'Please talk to me again' I try to say, but Im unsure how it comes out. It had been almost four months since I last tried to talk.
His head snapped twords me when I first got a sound out, and furrowed his eyebrows a bit "Darling, As nice as it was to hear your voice, I dont understand what you were trying to say." he spoke in my mind
I teared up a tiny bit, signing quickly 'Please talk to me. I miss sound, I miss hearing things, I miss being able to listen to people. To music, to audiobooks, to everything.' I managed to get through, my hands shaking.
I see his expression soften a bit as he read my hands, setting his cup down. He hesitantly pulled me into a hug, his chin resting atop my head "I dont know if the others will approve, but of course. Ill read you a book, okay?" he asked, pulling away from the hug a bit so I can look up at him, nodding
He pulled away the rest of the way, handing me a box of tissues. He grabbed his tea and a book, sitting down in the comfy chair that Steve bought a while back. It was his 'old man recliner' chair, as nicknamed by Tony. It was a fairly large chair, so I sat next to Loki, knowing that with his limiters, even his newer ones that let him shape shift between his female and male forms, he wouldnt be able to speak in my mind without physical contact. It wasnt exactly his string suit he had told me once.
Now that I didnt have a bit of a runny nose, and I was calmer, I noticed that he seemed to smell like dark chocolate, and almost like tea. It was calming in a sense.
I found my mind wandering a little bit as he started to read, why was he being so nice to you? Surely it was pity, but even then, I had noticed that he didn't like others touching him, even his own (adoptive) brother.
My concious started to calm, along with my body. Suddenly the world was darker, and I was lulled into a peaceful slumber.
