Loki almost felt a little pleased to see Heimdall for a moment. Almost. He was thankful to him for not tattling on him for visiting, AND especially having gone to a different realm without Thor.
Because he technically wasn't told to 'keep an eye on them'. All he was told was that Loki was being supervised by Thor, and if Loki ever got up to doing something ill-willed, he was supposed to tell Odin.
"Your highnesses." Heimdall spoke out, offering a slight bow "It has been much too long, Thor Odinson."
Thor smiled, and half embraced Heimdall, slapping him on the back before pulling away "It has been a while hasn't it? I trust you've been doing well?"
Heimdall returned the smile, a slight playful grin showing "Well, I seem to have all my limbs intact, so I'd say so."
"Will we see you for dinner?" Thor asked, glancing over at his friends as they approached the dome.
"Maybe. We'll see how much the reals behave." He started, shifting his weight slightly differently "So I am inclined to lean to no."
Thor frowned "It is unfortunate. Maybe we shall bring you some drinks and keep you company here some time."
"Thor! Hurry up so we can go eat!" Volstagg called, pulling Thor away from his conversation.
Loki gave Heimdall a slight appreciative nod before riding off, glad to finally be going somewhere. He had already mounted his horse, happy to be able to see her again.
"So why did you bring this wet rag with you?" Fandral asked Thor as they made their way to the castle, briefly gesturing to Loki
"Well, I am tasked with taking care of him. Also, because he has been called upon by father." Thor said, glancing at Loki, who looked oh so thrilled.
Yeah, no. All Loki could think about was checking in with his mother and then leaving. To get back to his normal routine of definitely not doting on you.
But alas, life was never as simple as anyone wishes it was.
Loki and Thor were soon in the royal throne room, kneeling on one knee as a sign of respect "Welcome home my sons."
They both rose, though only Thor had a smile on his face, though, not that that was unusual.
"It has been long, father. We came for agreed check in. I assure you that Loki has been very cooperative." Thor glanced at Loki with a smile "He has even found a very good friend."
"Yes, I can see that..." He trailed off as he saw the glare that Loki was shooting Thor's way. "Thor, while you are here, come help me with some issues. Loki, go off and find your mother or something. Just stay out of trouble."
Loki rolled his eyes, but did as told, glad to get out of that suffocating room. He found his mother in her medical study room, engrossed in her work before he cleared his throat, startling her.
"Oh- Loki my dear, when did you arrive back?" She asked, returning to her normal soothing tone, shutting her book gently.
"Not too long ago." He said, walking over, hugging her briefly "I brought you something." He said, pulling a book from the air. "It's some notes on the midgardian medical practices. You said you were curious."
Frigga smiled, gently caressing his cheek in a motherly manner "Thank you dear."
She set aside the book, wanting to spend time with her son before reading through his gift. "How has it been with your little midgardian?" She teased"Mother-" he said sternly, flushing a little at her comment
"You didn't deny it just then." She continued to tease as she got out some snacks and tea for them to have while talking.
"You know that you're the only person who can see through my lies, right?" He asked, eating one of the snacks as the water heated up "But we're fine." He grumbled out
"Well that's good to hear. Though I will admit I was hoping to hear that you finally confessed to them." She set the steeping tea pot on the table, getting out the cups "But I suppose you have time."
"And people wonder where I get it from..." Loki grumbled "Anyways, Mother, I was wondering if you had that here?"
"Oh yes! It was finished recently." She said as she went across the room, pulling a nicely wrapped package out of her desk "I hope I am guess who this is going to correctly." She teased, handing the package to Loki.
Loki quickly put the package in his dimensional pocket, ignoring her comment "Thank you for keeping it here for me."
"Yes yes. So long as this doesn't become a habit to make me your mail box." She said, getting more snacks "But teasing aside, tell me about what's been happening."

As soon as the shockwave of vibrations hit earth, practically telling all of new York that Thor and Loki had arrived, you were rushing to the living room to greet them. Sure, it was almost 2 am, but New York was the city that never slept anyways.
Thor got off the elevator first, giving you a brief hug before finding food. He'd told you that Asgard didn't have very many sweets, so that was likely what he was going to get.
You hesitantly hugged Loki, smiling as you heard his telepathy "Shouldn't you be asleep?"
You pouted a bit [You're awake too.] You signed, leading him over to the couch after. [I wanna hear about your trip]
Loki smiled, letting himself get directed like a kid and their teddy bear. "It was fine, I mostly just visited my mother, and helped her with some magic things. Lately she's developed a new healing theory, so ive been collaborating with her to improve it."
Loki paused to shift and grab something from his pocket, holding out a box "So, uhm. I told you I would get you something, so I had a ring made for you."
You opened the box, picking up the elegant gold ring. It had a simple snake engraving, and had been purposefully tarnished so it would show up more. You smiled, and slid it on your pointer finger, where it fit perfectly [It's beautiful, thank you so much]
Loki smiled, getting back up "How about we go to sleep now?" He asked as he held your hand, helping you up slightly.
As if on cue, you yawned, holding Loki's hand as you both walked back to your rooms "Good night." He told you, dropping your hand after
[Good night] you signed, quickly hugging him before going to your room, and getting comfortable in bed, admiring the ring until you fell asleep.
