"the demogorgon, it got me."

-

november, 1983

Y/N, mike, will, dustin, and lucas were playing d&d in mike's basement.

"a shadow grows on the wall behind you, swallowing you in darkness." mike says as they played the campaign. "it is almost here."

"what is it?" y/n asks.

"what if it's the demogorgon?" dustin asks in panic. "oh, jesus, we're so screwed if it's the demogorgon."

"it's not the demogorgon." lucas tells him.

"an army of troglodytes charge into the chamber!" mike says as he slams a piece into the board.

"troglodytes?" will asks.

"told ya." lucas rubs in.

all of them except mike then starts laughing.

"wait a minute." mike speaks up. "did you hear that? that.. that sound. boom, boom, boom!" he says, slamming his hand on the final boom, causing them all to jump. "that didn't come from the troglodytes, no, that.. that came from something else."

they all look at in confusion.

he slams a piece onto the board "the demogorgon!"

they all then start groaning in defeat.

"we're in deep shit." y/n says.

"y/n, your action!" mike tells her.

"i don't know!" y/n panics.

"fireball him!" lucas says.

"she'd have to roll a thirteen or higher!" will reminds him.

"too risky. cast a protection spell." dustin tells y/n.

"don't be a pussy. fireball him!" lucas says to y/n.

"cast protection." dustin says.

mike slams his hand onto the board again. "the demogorgon is tired of your silly human bickering! it stomps toward you, another stomp, boom!"

"cast protection!" dustin tells y/n.

"he roars in anger!" mike shouts.

they all start yelling at once.

"fireball!" y/n decides and rolls the dice, but the dice goes onto the floor.

everybody then gets up and starts scrounging around for it.

"where'd it go?" lucas asks.

"i don't know!" will replies.

"is it a thirteen?" dustin asks.
