The Secret

We wave goodbye to the family as we drive off to Joburg. My eyes are heavy with sleep and i feel so fatigued, Mnqobi and i stayed up all night last night trying to figure out a way to work through this. He promised he'd be there and we both agreed to attend therapy. We got on the road and i dozed off for a few hours.

I was woken up by what sounded like a yelling Mnqobi , i opened my eyes slowly and it looked like we were at a petrol station. Mnqobi was pacing up and down next to the gas cylinder filling machines. He looked like he was in a intense argument. "Just get it over and done with it !" He yelled before removing his phone from his ear , okay weird.

I stretched out my body as he walked to the car with a plastic full of snacks ,  he flashed me a smile and handed me the plastic bag. " Got you some goodies" , "thanks" i uttered out as i took it from his hand and took a peek to see what was inside.

He climbed in the car and took a deep breath before starting the ignition

Me : hey what's up, are you okay ?

Mnqobi : yeah I'm okay ,just a few problems at work . Khulekani can be incompetent at times .

He flashed me a weak smile and quickly turned his face away from me as i nodded slowly.  We drove off and within two hours we were driving into our yard . Mnqobi unloaded our bags as i strode into the house , it was  so dusty and looked dull . A spring cleaning would do it some good but not today i was tired . I curled up on the couch.

Mnqobi : sthandwa sam i have to run to the office real quick

Me :on a Sunday Mnqobi ?

Mnqobi : Khulekani mixed up some important client information that could cost us millions and i need to put out this fire before it spreads to quickly.

I looked at him intensely.

Mnqobi :i promise I'll be back within two hours

Me: okay .

Mnqobi : Ngyakthanda yezwa

It felt strange hearing those words , it had been long since he utttered them out. He pull me in for a forehead kiss and i couldn't help but push him away , he reeked.

Me: haa.a hambo geza uyanuka

He creased his forehead and looked at me as he slowly put his nose under his tshirt and his eyes enlarged as the odour hit his nostrils. "Geez ! Let me run" he stormed upstairs as i put on the tv and browsed through the channels. My phoned beeped , i reached for it and it was a WhatsApp notification from Thabi

"i can't wait to see you tomorrow , work has been boring without you 😭"

I giggled and texted her back , Mnqobi walked down the stairs looking all fresh , he came to give me a kiss on the check and left as i turned my attention back to 90 Days Fiance.

Mnqobi's POV

I drive off and after a few minutes I'm parked outside Dischem and i run in to get a morning after pill. The lady wouldn't assist me as they are only sold to women, i try persuading her to sell it to me but she doesn't budge . I walk out and luckily i bump into one of Thando's old high school friends who once had an enormous crush on me. I ask her to get the pill for me and she won't budge at first but i manage to get through here after promising to take her out on a date argh as if. She goes in and after a few minutes she comes out and hands me a small box written Plan B , "but then wena aren't you married?" She questions with her eyes squinting. "Leyo ayifun wena ke sisi , uzung'size don't utter a word to anyone about this or uzohlangana nokhokho bakho siyezwana? " she doesn't say anything and i run back to my car and drive off.
