Chapter 45

It's been two weeks since Amanda moved in with us and things have been the same at the house . I usually leave in the morning for work and come back late just to sleep . Things haven't changed between me and Mnqobi and I honestly don't see why I'm still sticking around . Mnqobi has returned back to work and i guess Amanda sits around the house the entire day stuffing her face . I must say pregnancy suits her . Her skin is so beautiful and glowing. I wonder how I would've looked. Mnqobi went with her to her doctor's appointment last week and they came back all giggling and whatnot . They even have inside jokes now . It pained me seeing them like that , i still love my husband. My phone rings bringing me back to reality, i check the caller ID and it's one of the flower suppliers for the wedding. Oh no I thought i told Lethabo to cancel everything. I answer it and I cancel. My wedding date is in two days and my husband and I aren't on speaking terms and he has a baby with another woman on the way . I laugh just thinking about it . My life is really just a joke. It's a Saturday today and a couple of our friends decided that they want to pop in just to check in . I know it will be super awkward but i could honestly use the company right now  so I'm cooking up a storm and Nelisa is coming to help me .  Mnqobi is out getting alcohol and a few other things we short with . Amanda has been sitting in front of the tv the entire day .

I barely converse with her , I honestly have nothing to say to her. She usually tries to throw remarks whenever she's on the phone with her mom or something but i never give her the time and energy. If i did , one of us would leave in a bodybag.

I get the roast chicken out of the oven just as the doorbell goes . Great just in time , Mnqobi lets everyone in and there's laughter echoing from the living room. I take off the gloves and make my way to the kitchen. "Hey friend!" Kelly screams out as she runs towards me , i embrace her in a hug and go on to greet everyone else. Everyone is here well apart from Funeka.

"Oh and i see you have someone new , hi" i smile as i greet the lady next to Kagiso. She smiles back , "you have a very beautiful home , I need to meet your interior designer asap" she says . "Ooouu i like her" i say  as everyone laughs .  "Guys you can make your way to the patio , Nelisa and Thabi please help me with the rest of the food" . Mnqobi leads the crowd to the patio where  we'll be having our dinner as it is Spring time so the nights are beautiful plus we didn't want to disturb miss Amanda from her so important screen time.

Thabi : is preggy joining us ?

Me : no she declined my invitation

Nelisa : wenze kahle , this dinner would've ended with a knife in someone's stomach

Me : haibo Nels!

Nelisa : wena you are too soft these days , I don't know what happened to you . This can't be the same Ndalo who would hit Simo with a bottle on the head

Me: people grow nkosi yam

Nelisa : haii fuck growth.

Thabi let's out a chuckle . We head out to the patio and sit down as we proceed with dinner over light conversations and travelling down through memory lane . Our friends are really trying to not make things awkward for us and i commend them for that . Throughout dinner not even one brought up marriage or anything and i like that. Just after serving dessert the dinner party gets a bit too loud as now people have had too much to drink but everyone is having a good time. I think I've also had too much to drink

"Uhm excuse me , some of us are trying to sleep " -Amanda yells out as she looks at us through the sliding door . "Fuck" Mnqobi mutters as he gets up and walks to her and they argue over something for a minute then he pulls her to the house.

"Right so anyway we attend the concert and the  next day we wake up in a stranger's house in Northcliff !" - Siya continues trying to ease the tension

"that was awkward"- Tshepo says under his breath and everyone shoots him a look
