Chapter 14

Marigold's POV

I now understand why everyone in the pack had a tv. I was never allowed to watch it but watching movies with Cane has been so much fun. We had started watching a third movie, but it was getting really late, and my eyes were starting to drop. I was enjoying the movies so much I didn't want to go to bed but alas my body was betraying me when I fell over onto Cane's shoulder.

"Well, little flower looks like it's your bedtime." Cane said as he stood up and picked me up.

"No, no I want to watch the movie. Please Cane." He chuckled at me and kept walking. Once in the bedroom he pulled my covers down placing me in the bed then tucked me in.

"We can watch some more in the morning. The rogues have been spotted close to here so I'm staying with you tonight. Don't worry I'll sleep on the couch." Did he just say he is staying here? Oh well I'm to damn tired and my eyes so heavy.

I woke to the sound of birds chirping and the morning sun peaking through my window. I don't remember going to be last night, I was watching a movie, wasn't I? I heard someone clear their throat making me jump.

"Cane? What are you doing here?" I asked him and he gave me a confused look.

"I stayed the night on the couch. You don't remember little flower?" Hmmm I faintly remember being caried to bed, but really nothing after that.

"I must have been really sleepy." I looked down and was still in the same clothes from last night. Thank God he didn't try to put me in my pjs. "So why did you stay?"

"Rogues where spotted close to here and Alpha Grey wouldn't want you left alone so I slept on the couch."

"Oh ok. Well, let me make some breakfast for us." I said getting up and heading towards the kitchen with Cane following me.

"I'll help. I'm actually pretty good at making breakfast." I grabbed the eggs and bacon from the fridge while he got the bread and butter. We worked together and soon sat down to eat.

"So, why are the rogues back?" I asked trying to see what was going on.

"We don't know. Rogues just pass through on their way to different places, but we usually don't see the same ones within a few days. We have tried to stop them to just talk to them but being a rogue, they evade us at all costs." He shrugged and continued eating. I got to thinking my father use to deal with rogues. He would use them to spy on other packs and carry out other things. What if he sent them after me. "Marigold, Marigold!" I felt Cane shaking my shoulder.

"W-what?" I sputter out.

"You ok? You got this look on your face like you were worried and scared." I just shook me head and got up from the table starting to clean up the mess we made.

"Little flower you can tell me anything. I promise." He gave me a small smile and I gave him one back.

"It's nothing. I just don't like rogues. We were always taught to be scared of them." I lied but I can't tell him about my pack or that the rogues might be sent for me. If it gets too bad, I might have to run somewhere else. "Hey, can I ask you about Alpha Grey?" A huge grin broke across his face and he nodded. "Is he a good Alpha? I mean does he treat all of his pack with respect?"

"Alpha Grey is a great alpha. I wouldn't stay if he wasn't. He works hard for the pack and even the lowest is treated with respect. He doesn't tolerate bullying or mistreatment to others." My wolf purred in my head and told me she knew it. He does sound like an honorable man like Maw said.

"D-do you think he'll like me?" I asked and could feel my cheeks heating up.

"Are you kidding? He already loves you. He wants to meet you so bad. It's killing him that I'm here and not him." My face must look like a strawberry from the heat it's giving off.

"I would really like to meet him, but I'm scared to." I told Cane truthfully. He gave me a sad smile and pulled me to him giving me a hug.

"There is nothing to be scared of. He will meet you anywhere you want, and I can be there with you if you are so scared, but with you I bet he'll be a big old teddy bear." He told me and I believe him.

"I'm off tomorrow. M-maybe can we meet here? I can make dinner and talk. You have to be here too."

"Marigold, he will be so excited and of course I'll be here."

"W-what is his favorite food?"

"Favorite hmmm let me think." He scrunched up his nose and put his finger to his chin tapping it. I couldn't help it and bust out laughing from his antics. "I know he likes steak a lot with bake potatoes and corn on the cobb. He has that a few times a week."

"Ok then will you take me shopping after work so I can pick everything up for tomorrow?"

"Of course, little flower what are best friends for."

"Thank you so much now let's finish the movie before work. I want to see how it ends." I grab his hand and pull him towards the living room.
