Marigold's POV

"No please! I promise it won't happen again. Please Beta Mark don't!" I beg my father's beta to not punish me. He just growls and slams his fist into my stomach before jerking on my hair pulling my face up to meet his smashing his lips onto mine. The stench of alcohol makes me gag and he slaps my face before kissing me again shoving his tongue in my mouth. I hold my breath trying to just let him do what he is going to do and let me go. His hands grope my breasts, and he moans into my mouth. Tears fall down my face which only makes him growl and pull my head back further. He jerks my hair and pulls me up to where I'm standing, and he backs me up following me until my legs hit against the bed.

"Strip." He says with lust in is eyes. He has never told me to strip. Fear shoots through my body and I shake my head back and forth.

"Please Beta Mark don't do this to me." I plead with him hoping I can reach something that is human and not animal right now. He slaps my face then grabs my chin forcing me to look at him.

"I said strip Marigold." Tears fall like a waterfall as I slowly remove my dress standing in front of him in just my bra and underwear. His eyes travel down my body and I see his eyes blow out full black with lust. I try covering myself with my arms and hands.

"Take the rest off now!" Beta Mark barks at me. I whimper and cry as I remove what little covering I have left and stand there for him to look at. He walks over and runs his hand down my side before pushing me onto the bed. He crawls over my body and I start fighting.

"Marigold! Marigold it's me Maw. Stop fighting me it's ok hun I got you." I bolt up and look around wildly and notice I'm in my bedroom and Maw has my arms holding them. My body shakes and I slump against Maw crying her arms wrapped around me pulling me close and her hand running up and down my back. "Your safe Marigold. No one is going to hurt you. I've got you." She tells me over and over while I sob and shake. Time passes and my sobs turn into hiccups and I lean back against the headboard. Maw fluffs my pillow and adjusts my covers making me comfortable.

"T-thank (hic) y-you (hic)" I manage to get out and Maw gives me a small smile.

"I'll be right back. I was cooking you something to eat when you had that nightmare you were having. I'm just going into the kitchen don't worry. I'll be right back." I watch as she heads into the other room and hear her getting out plates and silverware before she walks back in with a tray and a big bowl of soup and a glass of juice. She sits the tray over my legs, and I start eating. MMMMM no wonders Maw has a diner this is the best soup I've ever had. I feel her eyes on me and I look up. "Marigold, I want to let you know you are safe and that I will protect you with everything that I am." I nod as I listen to her wondering where she is going with this. "I know what you are." She says and offers me a smile taking my hand in hers. "I also know that the man that came into the diner was your mate." I gulp and shift my eyes down and tears start forming in my eyes. "His name is Alpha Grey. He is an honorable man, and he would never hurt you. I don't know what has happened to you, but I can imagen by the way you act it was something horrible." I nod and tears fall. I feel her removing the tray sitting it on my nightstand before her sitting on the bed with me pulling me into a hug.

"I-I'm b-broken an-and impure. M-my m-mate will re-reject me." I sob into Maw as she shushes me.

"I can tell you one thing honey. Alpha Grey will never reject you. I could see the pain in his eyes when he thought you were rejecting him." She rocks my body back and forth letting me cry. "You can trust me with your secrets Marigold. I just want to help you and I know Alpha Grey wants to help you too." I nod and sit back in the bed wiping the tears from my cheeks. I took a deep breath and let it out. I trust Maw she has been good to me these past few weeks. She has helped me so much and gave me a job. I will tell her a little but not everything.

"I ran away from my pack. I had no friends or anyone who loved me. Not since my Grandmother passed away when I was seven." She takes my hand and squeezes it encouraging me to continue. "I was beaten and punished almost every day. I was the runt of the Alpha and I was a disgrace to him and the pack. I was told every day I wasn't worth living and that I had no mate and if I did, he would reject me." Maw's eyes look sad and shows empathy and before I know it, I'm crying uncontrollably again. She pulls me back into her arms again letting me cry until I go limp from exhaustion. I'm laid back in bed and covered up.

"I'm going to go make you some tea. I'll be back in a few minutes." She leaves the room, and a feeling of relief settles over me that I finally have a friend who knows what has happened to me, not all of it but some of it, and she doesn't seem to hate me. Within five minutes I hear the tea kettle and then Maw appears with two cups of tea. I sit up in bed and take the cup she offers me, and she sits down in the chair close to my bed. We drink in silence until I feel my eyes growing heavy. "You look exhausted." Maw says as she takes my cup from me and then helps me scoot down in the bed laying my head on the pillow as she pulls the covers up my body. "Everything will be alright Marigold." I hear her say as I'm pulled into the darkness.
