Chapter 13

Cane's POV

Marigold and I ate our dinner while talking and laughing about silly things. She really is a sweet girl, but very guarded. Alpha is going to have a hard time getting to know his mate. She won't talk about her past at all. I have tried getting any kind of information about her pack that could help Leon in his search, but she won't give me any clue. She only answers questions that are frivolous.

"So little flower you got a tv?" She blushes before shaking her head no.

"I don't have the money for one yet. I'm not even sure what I would watch. I've never really watched tv before."

"No Shitting? OK get in the car we are going shopping." Her eyes grow big then narrows.

"We're going shopping for what Cane?" I grab her hand and pull her out of the diner and getting her into the car. Jumping into the driver side I take off towards the Walmart. "Cane what are we shopping for?"

"You'll see." I pull into the Walmart parking then grab her hand leading her into the store. I grab the shopping cart then head towards the electronics. Once there I find a sixty-inch four D tv and get it into the cart along with a dvd player and I start throwing in movies that I think she will like.

"What are you doing Cane? I can't afford this stuff." She starts panicking and trying to take stuff out of the cart while I'm putting more stuff in.

"Marigold stop!" I grab her hands and get her to look me in the eye.

"You're not buying this stuff I am." She shakes her head. "It's for me little flower so stop worrying." I know it's a lie but that's the only way I'm going to be able to get her to stop fighting me. After getting everything, I head to the cash register to check out then take everything out to the car. After getting Marigold back in the car I head towards her apartment. She looks worried and is wringing her hands. I grab her hand and hold it until I pull up to her apartment and watch as she gets out to unlock the door. I grab the tv and walk in behind her. I walk into what looks like the living room and start setting up the tv.

"Cane what are you doing? You said the stuff was yours." She says wringing her hands again.

"It is mine, but I'm letting you borrow it for now. You and I are going to watch a movie." I tell her as I run back out to the car and grab the dvd player and movies. Once I have everything set up, I tell her to pick a movie while I make the popcorn. I come back in the room with our popcorn, and she has picked out a Disney movie. I'm cool with Disney movies since I have lots of younger siblings. I put the movie in and we both sit down on the couch to watch. We watch Hotel Transylvania and I enjoy watching her child like face as she laughs and enjoys the movie. She had told me she hadn't really seen any movies and I believe her. The look in her eyes tells me she has never had this pleasure and it truly breaks my heart for her that she is this sheltered. As the movie finishes, I get a mind link from Alpha asking about his mate. I let him know what we are doing. He gives a low growl but then says good. I know his wolf is probably giving him Hell for allowing me an unmated male to be around his mate, but I would never do anything besides protect her. She's not my mate and I don't roll that way stealing other people's mates. I hear a knock at the door and Marigold starts to get up to answer.

"You expecting anyone?" I ask her and she shakes her head no. "Ok you get us a drink and pick out another movie while I check out who is at the door. I look out of the peep hole but don't see anything. I opened the door and see a rose laying on top of a note. I pick it up and read it. SEE YOU REAL SOON RUNT. Fuck!

"Alpha another note was left on your mates' doorstep. Shows they know where she moved to."

"Mother Fuckers! OK you stay with her. Tell her you will sleep on the couch. I will come over in a little to patrol. I know she doesn't want to meet me yet, so I'll stay outside and make sure they don't come near her home again. I throw the rose outside before closing the door. Folding the note, I place it in my pocket before making my way back into the living room.

"Who was at the door?"

"No one."

"Really? That's weird."

"Yup that it is. Oh well what did you pick to watch." I watch as she holds up a dvd and I can't help but roll my eyes and laugh. "Ok fine let's watch Frozen." I put the movie in, and she starts watching with bright eyes eating popcorn like a little child. I'll tell her after this movie that I have to stay and watch for the rogues. I hope she'll be ok with that. I can't tell her the truth just yet. Not until we know what is actually going on.
