Maw's POV

The poor child. The poor, poor child. Living a life of abuse and being unloved has broke her. I served her tea with my famous remedy that puts werewolves into a dreamless sleep for a while. I came up with it during my time of serving Alpha Grey's family. His mother had awful dreams and terrible insomnia and with my background as a healer I came up with this tea. She silently drunk the tea and I could see it starting to take effect. Once she took her last sip her eyes were already starting to close. I removed the cup from her hand and helped her lay down into the bed pulling the covers over her fragile frame.

"Everything will be alright Marigold." I told her as she slipped under kissing the top of her head. She reminds me so much of my own daughter and I have this need to protect her and care for her like my own. I take the cup back into the kitchen and start cleaning up. Once finished I pull out my cell phone to call Alpha Grey. I hate breaking her trust, but this is her mate, and he needs to know about her. She isn't rejecting him. I loved that boy as my own he grew up with my daughter and I was his nanny from the time he was born. I watched as he looked for his mate and how each year broke him as he watched others find their soulmate. I dial the number and wait for him to answer.

"Maw, please tell me she isn't rejecting me." He blurted out as soon as the phone connected.

"No Alpha Grey, she isn't rejecting you. I need you to sit down and please try and control your temper and your wolf." I tell him but I know it's probably futile.

"I'm sitting down Maw. Please just tell me everything." I take a deep breath and start.

"Your mate has been abused and punished from the time she was seven after her grandmother passed. It seems that is the only love she has ever known." I hear a low growl and press on. "She was having a nightmare and was begging a Beta Mark to please don't. I'm not sure what he was doing to her, but she was crying and screaming and fighting in her sleep so much that I had to wake her." I pause as I hear him roar and then something busting over the line. Then cussing and more things being shredded.

"I'm sorry please continue." Alpha Grey huffs out breathing heavy.

"She is actually afraid you are going to reject her. She has been told her whole life she doesn't deserve a mate and that if she had one, he would reject her once he learns she is ...." I dread telling him the last word I know he is going to let his anger take over.

"She's what Maw?" He demands over the phone and I take a deep breath before telling him.

"She's impure."

"Fuck! Son of a Bitch!" I hear then the line goes dead. I guess he threw the phone. I knew that would send him over. I can picture in my mind what he is doing to whatever room he is in. I know it's being torn to shreds. He will call me back as soon as he can calm down enough. Not only is his mate hurting but apparently, she has been raped and no longer a virgin. If I know him, he will find out who hurt his mate and he will make them suffer before killing them. I fix me a cup of coffee and sit down at the kitchen table. It's going to be a long night but I'm going to watch over Marigold until morning. I can't let her wake up alone. Sipping the coffee, I hear a howl in the distance and know what's happening. He is coming here. Damn it. I rush to the door and quickly open it before he has the chance to bust it down trying to get to her. Just as I jerk open the door, I see his wolf skidding to a halt in front of me.

"Alpha Grey Adam Baxter! What is the meaning of this?" I scold him and his wolf Rafe. Rafe lowers his head and whimpers. "Just go change and come in her quietly she is sleeping." I tell him. He disappears behind a tree then comes back out in shorts and shirt. Stepping back, I let him enter her home and watch as he takes big steading breathes and his tight strung body visibly relaxes. "Sit Alpha Grey." I motion to one of the chairs at the table, but he follows her scent and goes into her bedroom. "Don't touch her Alpha!" I hiss at him. He shakes his head and just stands near her bed looking at her peaceful sleeping frame. After a few minutes he walks back to the kitchen taking a seat at the table placing his elbows on the table letting his head fall into his hands.

"D-did she say who abused her other than Beta Mark, her pack name anything?" He asked me.

"No, I'm sorry Alpha she didn't say anything. She didn't tell me Beta Mark either she was talking in her sleep the only reason I know that name." He lets out a long sigh then sits back in his chair pinning me with his gaze. "I know you don't think I should be here, but I'm guessing you gave her your special tea so she'll be out for at least six hours. My wolf and I need to be near her right now." I give him a look that makes him let out another loud sigh. "Just for a few hours Maw. Then I'll leave before she wakes up."

"Fine Alpha, but I expect you to leave before she wakes up. You understand me." He gives me a grin like he used to as a small boy. Jumping up from the seat he makes his way back into her room. Pulling up the chair as close as he can to the bed he sits down and takes her hand gently. I see the look of love written all over the mans face and I can't help but feel so happy for him. I turn to head back into the kitchen but hear him whispering to her.

"I love you Marigold. Please don't reject me. I've been waiting for you for so long." Tear's spring to my eyes as I slip from the room.
