Marigold's POV
I woke in a panic, sweat dripping from by brow heart racing and me panting. I look wildly around the room and realized I was in the inn far away from my old pack. I was safe. I took a few deep breathes trying to calm myself. They can't hurt me, I'm safe I keep saying as a mantra. I slip from the bed and head into the bathroom splashing cold water on my face. It's still dark out. The first few nights I had actually been able to sleep without dreams but now they're back. I was back in the dungeon the beta had me chained to the bench hitting me with a whip. My blood flowing from my back as I screamed out in pain and me apologizing for being late with his dinner. I shudder from the memory as I looked at my face in the mirror.
"You're safe and we are never being beat again." I say to my reflection.
"Run?" Aurelia says to me.
"I don't know."
"Please I need out Marigold." She whines in my head.
"Ok a quick run and then back here." I say to her. I quietly leave the room and walk down the street to the woods I had come from the first night. Once I was in the cover of the trees, I took my clothes off and shifted. I let Aurelia have control and she took off like a shot. We ran and jumped over logs playing in the woods until I heard a snap behind me. "Aurelia, we need to leave now." I tell her and she runs back the way we came. It smells like a rogue like us, but I don't know if it's a wild rogue who has completely lost humanity or someone like me. We make it back to the tree where our clothes are, and we stop to listen. Not hearing anything we quickly shift, and I throw the clothes on before quickly running towards the town. Once I make it onto the street, I let out the breath I must have been holding. They won't attack on the street. I make my way back to the inn letting myself in. "That was close Aurelia."
"Yeah, but it was fun." She said in my head prancing around with her tongue hanging out. I shake my head at her and head into the bathroom. I take a quick shower to get the dirt off before climbing back into the bed. It's only four am so I don't have to be up yet, and I am suddenly tired. Yawning I turn the light off and pull the covers over my body.
"We really need to work on our senses Aurelia. Since I wasn't trained, we'll have to learn on our own so we can notice things easier like most werewolves." I say in my head.
"We could ask Leon and Cane for help." Aurelia says to me.
"Are you crazy? They're the beta and gamma and I don't know if we can trust them."
"I think we can." She rolls over on her back and I sigh.
"We'll see. I don't trust anyone." I say back to her as my eyes close and she lays on her stomach her head on her front paws.
"Yeah, your right Marigold." She huffs out as I let sleep drag me under.
I woke again to the sound of the alarm. Eight am and I have to get my clothes washed as I only brought so many changes. I grabbed all my clothes and a roll of quarters I had gotten yesterday I headed to the washing machine that the inn had. I put all my clothes in and started the machine just as the owner rounded the corner.
"Ah an early riser I see." Mr. Wilson said to me with a gentle smile.
"Yeah, I'm used to getting up early. Plus, I needed clean clothes." I said motioning to the machine.
"Well, let them wash and come have a cup of coffee with me and the misses. You remind me so much of my daughter. She's away at college."
"Sure, if you both don't mind." I said with a small smile.
